I built an SLI machine using an ABIT FP-IN9 SLI Mobo and 2 x 8800GTX. One is a BFG the other an EVGA, both clocked at stock 575/1800. I am using a Cooler Master 850 Real Power Pro PSU and a Thermaltake Armor case.
The problem is that after playing Call of Duty 2 for about 15 minutes, I start getting extreme drops in FPS and it stutters like crazy. If I exit the game, and check my temps on the GPUs, they are around 78 and 72 respectfully.
To touch them is very hot. My 3dMark2006 is around 11,300 which I thought would be much better than that when I went from a single 8800 GTX to SLI.
The power suppy has 6 12v rails, each outhputting 18a. It has 4 PCI-e 6 pin cables and I am using all four.
Someone told me that one cause of overheating is under powered cards. However, I would think that this Power Supply has more than enough power for an 8800GTX SLI setup.
I did the SLI setup in the4 forceware and have tried differnt drivers, yet I still keep gettting an extreme drop in FPS (from constant 250fps down to like 15fps in COD2)
What am I doing wrong?
