Why is my Avacado tree so stupid?

There are two in the pic below, one in the small McD's cup and the bigger one under it - I am talking about that bigger one. You can see its leaves are turning brown in a big way. Is this a sign of over-fertilization? It sure looks like it. The only fertilizer I have given it is water out of my aquarium. I understand that is a VERY mild fertilizer, that is how I often see it described. I.E. don't expect it to do a ton because it is so mild, its not like putting some potassium nitrate on your yard or some shit. But I felt the tree needed SOMETHING (mainly nitrate I would have guessed) looking at those leaves - look at the two leaves to the bottom/right, it looks like interveinal chlorosis or something. Anyone have any idea what is going on here?

Thanks!!!

Like your other plant post, looks to be over watering. I know it's odd to think that when you start them the roots LIVE in water, but if the soil is constantly damp towards the bottom, this will happen.

I'd stop using aquarium water. If you're using any kind of dechlorinator, that COULD be the cause.

Understood loud and clear RPD, cutting back watering them immediately!

Boomer, I actually have a 55 gallon trash can that I fill with hose water. Then I put an air line with an air stone in there and bubble it for at least 24 hours. Then I pump the water into my aquarium, which has just been emptied of the previous acquarium water (which was similarly bubbled hose water), until its full. So no dechlorinator at all. Given that, it should be safe no? At least I think I read that is the safest way to do it and better for the fish, the bacteria, the plants, etc. etc.

Thanks!!!!

Vigorous aeration should help with chlorine, but if your water department uses chloramine, (and that's becoming more and more common,) aeration won't make much difference. The chemical bond between the chlorine and ammonia is tough to break.

Have you read about the temperature range for an avocado plant? Maybe it's just too hot/humid in your climate?
