At times like these I wish there was a word count log to satisfy my e-peen.

Seriously though, what's your PSU rated at?

Install the GART motherboard drivers, turn off fast writes, and run Driver Cleaner Pro on your gfx drivers and reinstall them.

Also, split it up with paragraphs.

reasonable FPS but jerking sound like some kind of swapping going on.
- turn off anything like antivirus before playing
- disable indexing service (Start>Run>Services.msc>Indexing Service>Disabled)
- make sure your ram is running at DDR400 (or faster, if overclocking). it'll show you on POST screen during boot up, or download CPUZ program. obviously it's DDR so dont get excited when it shows 200mhz.
- go into power options in Control Panel and set turn off hard disks to never
- make sure your hard disk is using a reasonable DMA (Device Manager>IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers>check the channel your HDD is on) might tell you wether write caching is enabled (better if it is, for "unimportant" uses), though might depend on wether you installed the IDE component of the nvidia motherboard drivers (you did install those, right?).
- if i read the sys info you posted rightly, I notice you've only got ~25gb free on a 150gb hard disk, on a new install? defrag anyway.

Get an Xbox 360.
If don't have an HDTV and a good speaker system for it, get those too.

Do you run Adaware, Spybot, or Windows Antispyware? If not, you should download and use them all.

Download process explorer and see what's going on while the stuttering occurs. Try removing all cards except for the video card. Run anti-spyware and anti-virus software. Disable cool and quiet.

+It was a 430 watt but I just put in a 500watt with now effect on system performance. they were both turbolink and the 500 watt that I got had 5 eggs and best review for the price, although ppl on planetamd64 would burn it at the stake. I am 99.9999 + 0.0001% sure it's not a psu problem.

-Install the GART motherboard drivers, turn off fast writes, and run Driver Cleaner Pro on your gfx drivers and reinstall them.
+After spending 20 mins on google, I finally find out that PCI-Express does the job of what GART does for AGP. obviously geforce 7800 series is pci-e since they don't make any AGP version although I'm not sure about that.

+done

- turn off anything like antivirus before playing
+I shut down virus scanner/closed out all processes before playing, same problem.

- disable indexing service (Start>Run>Services.msc>Indexing Service>Disabled)
+Indexing services was never on.

+my DDR was 400 until I over clocked the cpu and now its 333. Stock or Clocked has no effect on game play.

+I have no idea about this. I use SATA/RAID, But my HDTach is 210mb burst and 78mb average read.

- if i read the sys info you posted rightly, I notice you've only got ~25gb free on a 150gb hard disk, on a new install? defrag anyway.
+Yes its a new install, and the games play crappy even before I downloaded all those movies..

-Get an Xbox 360.
+And have it obsolete in a flash? I spent a lot on my pc because I want the best quality in my games.

I wish I could record my gameplay.. I wonder if I record from my laptop using a web cam it can show you all what I'm talking about? I doubt it. I'm willing to paypal $20 to anyone who fixes this.

I watched Fraps closely and saw how the game would go from 80fps to 40 fps when there was any smoke of fog in the air. And its things like that that make the game speed un even.. You see when it hits 40fps its like some part of the game wants to keep going at 80fps because then it jumps to where it should be at 80 fps when at 40.. bah this is whacked

Why? Cause you suck at teh troubleshooting?

Seriously it just takes a bunch of patience and all the latest drivers/bios (usually). That rig should butter through any game at medium to max settings.

Try running burn in tests, memtest95, diagnostic programs from majorgeek.com

Oh and Davegod's post here contains good advice

Try this... first setup your computer to boot with only what is need for XP to run properly, then disable your swap file, then do a defrag, and after the defrag is complete, immmediately set your min and max on the page file to 1/3 of system memory(min and max should be the same), reboot your computer and then try the game...

First off, make your posts shorter.

Second, what brand is your PSU? Wattage doesn't matter, I believe you said Turbo Link? I don't even know that brand...

Get something like a Seasonic, Fortron, Xclio, OCZ.

Third, is this a desktop or laptop, I can't tell from your posts.

Fourth, what is your hard drive? If you are serious about gaming, think about getting a Raptor. And if all else fails, reformat hard drive and reinstall Windows.

Yes I have ad-aware and no I don't have any spyware.. I've reformated like 4 times trying to fix this problem.. And i think I was wrong with the fps fluctuating problem, I was turning around a bend in most wanted and had a stable fps of 65 the whole way and the damn screen was jerking the entire way. Its as if there's a memory bandiwdth problem. I suppose it's taking too long to load up the next scene to display.. It does the same thing on the lowest detail settings so it's not using up all my gfx card memory at all. I've ran prime98 for an hour with no problem.

Super PI RESULTS

That PC of yours will become obsolete a lot quicker than an Xbox 360 would. Console life cycles are a lot longer than PC hardware life cycles.

LOL for those of you that remembered my rant yesterday, well I fixed the problem 90% anyways. All I had to do was turn off vsync. I don?t like screen tearing but it?s not so bad compared to the unplayable spiking when the map scrolls more gfx and traffic. It?s playable now anyways so I?ll save my money from another 7800 gt.

Sorry to inform you JohnAn2112 but the xbox 360 is already obsolete compared to any pc that can run a PCI-Express card. I?ve done my share of research and their special x800 ati video is about equivalent to a geforce 6800 ultra.. which is a killer gaming machine for the price, don?t get me wrong, but I?m sure NFS Most Wanted on my PC looks a bit better than xbox 360, I would guess..

Not to mention a lot of xbox 360 games are also released on the PC platform aswell. Although I?m sure it will always have more games than pc such as pgr3, and the future halo 3.. but I want to play games not at just high detail, but ultra detail, 1280x1024 , and 4x AA
