I have a wireless mouse that was laggy sometimes on my previous rig. I just built a brand new beast and the mouse seems to have no lag when nothing's open on my PC, but it's basically unusable in any game, and is moderately laggy when a website's open. I've tried a brand new wireless mouse and it exhibits the same exact behavior.

What gives?!?!

Batteries? Drivers? Since you've tried another mouse, I would think drivers.

What kind of surface are you using these mice on?

Back in the day the Amiga had a separate mouse co-processor so the mouse was never laggy even on such an old slow machine...

I think some video cards have a "hardware cursor" which might be a similar feature?

You can get an optical wired mouse for $5-10 dollars. It is a good idea to have one as a backup.

Head into control panel and start playing with the mouse options is your best bet. Are you using drivers that came with the mouse or letting windows find it's own?

Yes mice is the plural of mouse. Are you trying to make a point?

Sigh. No reason for you to think I was Dissing YOU.

I was pointing out that he has the identical issues with TWO wireless mice.

Simply because that's significant in the troubleshooting journey.

Hope this is clear now.

remove dirt on your optical reader? other than batteries and drivers, or the surface you are using it, it can't be much else. Otherwise maybe, just maybe the little usb receiver might be defective.

Afterthought question: Is yr KB wireless? If so, is it functioning normally?

And, just delved and found this:

You could be getting interference. No matter how close the mouse and the receiver are interference is always an issue. The 2.4GHz range is incredibly crowded because it is the only range, along with 5.0GHz as of recently, that manufacturers can put whatever they want into. The rest is controlled by the FCC.

Reminds me yet again why, at least on my desktops I don't do wireless, but that's just MY choice.

Here's another little trick you can try. Move the wireless receiver to a different USB port. You can even try using a short USB extension cable to relocate the receiver. Generally speaking, wired mice are better for gaming than wireless ones.
