Why is my phone faster than my computer?

Hmm, I only have a 900mhz phone. But it's still faster than my 700mhz athlon..
How is them 2.4ghz phones? Is it worth upgrading from my 900mhz? I mean, like, what's the difference? sound quality? Because I don't care about the distance...I don't take the handset that far away anyways..

I heard there wasn't much difference between 900mhz and 2.4ghz...just a marketing scheme

The difference is suppose to be how far the handset can be from the base, I think....

Huh...don't know for sure, but good question. Maybe I should buy on of those 2.4Ghz and ditch my computer.

Yzzim: There is not much difference between the sound quality of the 2. The main difference is the distance you can go from the base. In an informal test we did where I used to work a 2.4GHz Panasonic was able to go about 3 times as far as a 900MHz Panasonic phone.

I heard you can buy those panasonic 2.4ghz phones, add a hard drive and put linux on it! Makes one hell of a machine and you wont have to sign up for their phone service, who's with me?

Yeah but everybody knows the 900's are multiplier unlocked and you can get them easily up to 1.4Ghz which is almost as clear as the 2.4Ghz since the 900's hve a better fpu(Fone PickUp) and dont use fancy gimmicks like reducing the antenna so you getting the same RW perfomance anyway . The only good thing I can say about the 2.4's is that they can be ramped up easily, they say that by next year we will have 20+, but of course, for that, you need a new phone jack

I've used one of the nascar race scanner thingys to listen to 900Mhz signals, but can't with 2.4 Ghz.

I heard that the Saddam Hussein ordered 20,000 Sony 2.4 GHz phones for use in weapons telemetry systems, but instead got 20,000 uniden 49 Mhz phones.
