Why is my Vista graphics score 1.0?!

Since upgrading the motherboard and processor my HTPC Vista machine has been acting very strange. Video is choppy and looks horrible, DVDs seem to skip frames... it is as if it doesn't recognize the vid card. When I check the Vista ratings - my rig scores a 1.0 based on the graphics score! But gaming score is 4.1?? What gives?!

My HTPC:

Vista 32bit
ASROCK 939Dual SATA2
AMD 64 3200+
2x512 DDR 400
EVGA 6600GT AGP 128mb (Driver 158.24)
Audigy SE PCI
Hauppauge PVR150 PCI
Gigabit PCI NIC
250gb PATA HD

Test Results Image

The 6600GT AGP card worked ok with previous hardware (ASUS mb w/ Athlon XP 2800+) but I never really looked at the Vista score as the video performance was fine.

Any ideas??

Thanks in advance!

i had a 2.0 vista graphics and a 4.2 gaming on my laptop upon vista install for an overall of 2.0. After installing updated graphics drivers (and drivers for everything else), i re-ran the test and it brought my vista score up to my gaming now i get an overall of 4.2.

of course that doenst explain the choppy video at all... hmm

I have run the test multiple times. Prior to the new drivers, with newest drivers, with the last revision of drivers etc... always the same result - graphics score of 1.

Vista is a clean install. (I actually did a clean install twice!) The only software on it (besides the Audigy and NVidia drivers) is antivirus software.

Try some hardware troubleshooting. Reseat the card and ram, check to bios to make sure onboard video is turned off, etc.

Either you missed something when re-building, or it's a bad mobo. My 2c.

heh...bad mobo. SHUT YO MOUTH!

I've tried all of the hardware troubleshooting that I know... no dice.

Get this - I decided to put an older Radeon in the computer to try the 6600GT in another machine (one that I would build from old parts) - but before doing so, I un-installed the NVidia drivers. It rebooted and now all of the stuttering is gone with the Microsoft WDDM built in Vista driver! WTF!? Still scores a 1.0 on the Vista graphics part... <shrug>

When I have time I'll pull the card into another machine to see if I can figure out what is going on...
