Why is my Win 10 System Pausing on each Page Break?

I must be doing something wrong, but am not sure if it is the GPU or OS or what!

I am using a 2GB EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti. With all the latest drivers.

I built an i7-4790k, 16GB Memory, 512GB SSD and ASUS Z97 Pro MoBo.

OK, this should be fast and it is. However, I just get the feeling that my video should be a lot faster than it is. Why? Because we do not play games! Here is what I see.

When Browsing, it seems like it pauses when displaying Graphic content and I am on a 50/50 FIOS connection.

Before I blame the browser or connection, I notice other issues like a slight pause when scrolling to the next page even a Word 2013 document. When it changes pages, it has a slight pause...like it is buffering. This happens with PDF and Excel files as well. It is smooth in the page, but when I get to the end of the page, it pauses while it loads the next page...STRANGE!

So, any idea why this rig "seems" to have a video bottleneck?

I am anxious to figure this out as my wife wants to have me build her a system soon, and she uses dual Monitors and I want a fast card for her.

Not sure now that it has anything to do with the Video Card, and it is NOT an issue with how many lines the mouse scrolls at a time. As I said, it seems like a buffering issue! It just seems like it is an OS setting that I missed.

Not enough details, could be any number of causes.

I would:
Check Resource Monitor to make sure there isn't anything using 100% of your CPU in the background. Also check the I/O on your hard drive.

Do a clean reinstall of your video card drivers.

Run an sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt.

Run chkdsk.

Check the windows error logs, stutters could be caused by failed read/write on the hard drive due to failing hardware.

But yeah, performance stutters like that could be caused by a billion different things.

Resource is only a few %. I/O is fine and it is on an SSD. Error logs OK...just info. Again, system IS fast, it seems like some setting that only loads a page at a time. Scrolling within a Word Doc, or PDF is smooth...until it loads the next page.

Have you tried another browser? If not give it a shot. If that fixes it, check which pluging you're using.

Had a similar issue in firefox years ago, turned off some extension i had installed and it fixed the problem.

oop, didn't see that other programs caused the issue too.

It was an upgrade from 8.1 but I had the same issue on 8.1.

OK, if you had the same issues in 8.1, that points to either drivers, or, system stability issue of some type, or conflict with some other program.
(Could be SSD/HD/RAM/CPU/PSU or antivirus that is too aggressive, or.. or...)

I don't understand how you could see the same issue in both Word and a PDF viewer. Can you confirm that these are absolutely different programs (i.e. not a PDF in word, or a word doc in a browser)?

Yes, these are different programs. Also, someone suggested that it is a screen buffer size issue that does a page at a time. That makes sense as I can see it blink as I cross page boundaries. I do not see how to change the size....if I can. Is it Windows or the GPU?

As far as I know, that behavior is ... normal?

At least, brief pauses between pages in both Word and PDF viewers have been present on every PC that I can remember using.

Well, I never had noticed this before!

It does depend on the complexity of the document(s), too.

I've had some PDF files, that every time you change pages, it has to re-render (complex layers). I've had other ones where it just scrolls pages by smoothly.
