Why is nudity in movies so frowned upon?

I can understand people complaining about violence in movies, although personally I don't agree with them. But why are people so anti-skin show in movies? I cannot think of a single reason why this showing skin is bad for the society.

IMO, I am really sick of movies being regulated.. especially in the US. Yeah, MPAA is purely voluntary.

Regulation in movies does more bad than good. Why the difference in the way people perceive movies and Paintings, sculptures, etc..?

I don't know of anyone who is against skin in movies. I'm sure hardcore religious people of all types probably are, but I've never seen any uprisings or anything to bring attention to it.

movies today are a lot tamer than they were in the 80's. lots of T&A flicks back then. i just watched one that i totally forgot it had so much sex in it, and this is before women discovered that trimming the bush is a good thing. A R rating in the 80's was soft porn.

Seriously though most of the time the nudity in movies isn't of any true "artistic" value to the material, it just brings in a bit more of a male audience if the star dropping her top is someone they want to see...in most cases that is, there are some art house type shows that it could be said to have true value but other than that what purpose does it really have? Do you lose some valuable experience by not seeing a breast when a chick wakes up in the morning?

And what is the point of a nude sculpture or a painting? What defines "artistic" value? I say let the people decide. There is no need to regulate movies based on nudity alone.

The reason for nudity in movies is 99% of the time is erotic/sexual in nature. Most parents don't want to get a boner while watching TV with their kids who are also getting boners at the same time.

Nudity on a french beach or in an art museum you are at with your kids is not intended to give everybody boners, and under these situations most people don't have a big problem with it.

In conclusion: Nudity that contributes to family boner time = Bad, Nudity that does not contribute to that = not as big of a deal.
