Why is the restaurant tip system still in place?

The only reason it is still in place is because:

The employer needs to have a system of motavation for the employees to sell food.
The customer needs to try and get on the waiter's good side, the person serving your food has you in a very vunerable position.

Why do I need to get on the waiter's good side? Shouldn't he be getting on MY good side, so he can earn a tip?

You just illustrated my point exactly. You are on his good side, because he is trying to get on YOUR good side.

People who say they leave no tip are just cheap bastards who instead of trying to sit down and enjoy there meal they critique every little thing the waiter does so they can justify being cheap bastards

Anyway, they keep it in place for two reasons.

1)That's the way it has been, so that's the way it is

2)If they abolished tipping, they would have to raise prices accordingly to be able to attract decent servers (unless they are happy with inexperienced 16 year olds, and/or people with a tenuous grasp of the English language). Now they pay minimum wage plus tips. If they got rid of tips, they aren't going to attract many competent people with minimum wage. Therefore, prices rise.

I overtip, to compensate for nik. so we cancel each other out.

it's good that on business trips, my company will pay me back too.

Same here

Tips are there for an incentive for waiter/waitresses to work harder so the owner makes more money. When I was working in a restaurant as a cook back in '82 waitresses were making 200-300/night in tips. That is what I made in a week being a cook.

Word of advice if you want to work in a restaurant don't be a cook because you get screwed royally.

You need to visit Europe. The waiters' get paid alot better so no one tips over there. Therefor the waiter has no need to be fast or polite. I prefer our way.

No one tips because the tips are built into the price of the food there.

I always leave at least 10%, up to 20 if the service was excellent.

the tipping system is in place so that rests. do not have to pay minimum wage to employees and then charge customers $11.00 or a hamburger.

If they give you good service, DO give them a tip (the IRS estimates and taxes their tips so if you don't tip, they still get taxed on that phantom tip)

But if they don't give you good service, just give them this tip: "do better next time", that is, if you ever go back

You lost all credibility when you said this:

"I think its safe to bet that I have been with 5x more women than you. From all over the world, having sex so nasty, it would make larry flint blush. Keep you mouth shut."

Thank you, you little pre-pubescent loser, for giving me someone to laugh at during a dull day at work.

Oh, and please end yourself, thanks.
