Apologies for keeping you guys waiting. I will attempt to better coordinate with the pathogens around me next time.

27 HTML pages. 78 printed pages.

Ryan, you're one of the best video card reviewers in the world. It was painful to see all the whining about the late review. It was obviously going to be worth the wait.

Perhaps next time you can just post a one-page preview or announcement on the main site on the day of release, so people know a more detailed review is coming. No need to give them a hard deadline if you're ill or just too busy - you don't work for them after all.

That was an excellent review and the conclusion was exactly how I thought of it as. Kudos to you Ryan.

Nice review, similar results to the rest. I really hope for AMD's sake that DX12 provides a huge performance boost by removing those CPU bottlenecks.

Interesting thing about the tight voltage control. I can't wait to see what voltage adjustment does to overclocking and DX12.

I dunno, Nano based on specs seems like it would be faster...well assuming where they cap the power limit.

Aftermarket water cooler on that

I'm very interested to see how open air coolers will look like on the Fury will be. I'm guessing the heatpipes and fins will extend to same length as 290x\980ti. I'd like to see crossfire being accounted for, like put spacing where PCB would've been to allow better intake when cards next to each other. Maybe fins would be half height at that area and have a plastic cover so hot air not sucked by above card.

I didn't see anything new in the review that wasn't stated someplace else, but, I suppose having it in all one one place is helpful. The overall review was better than most other sites, too bad it was late.

I was more interested in the noise 'whine' controversy that has been brought up, and, about the new pumps being shipped out instead of the old. Not one word on that front.
It seems that, at least, his sample didn't have an issue.
I also wonder if he gets to keep the card or not...

Worth the wait. Its nice to have so much information in one place and not have to hunt around across multiple reviews. It would have been nice to see the 980TI OC against the Fury X OC. OC vs OC performance is one of the most important deciding factors for me, and I'd assume a lot of enthusiasts. Of course, I can search around to directly compare.

With the limit OC capabilities of Fury X at it this stage in time, your research won't be very pleasant. Ultimately, the OC headroom, cost, and availability is what me decide against buying a Fury X. (Actually availability played a huge role, I was just tired of waiting and decided to buy the first "decent" card that came in stock).

People are saying wait for voltage mods/etc, but I get this odd itching suspicion that those won't manifest - at least not how we think.

AMD really missed a step by not having one of the BIOSes be a factory OC with more aggressive voltage.

Sweet mother...why oh why did I print that on my home printer? Off to read 119 pages and quite possibly order more toner.

...bye!

Fury air-cooled version needs to launch at $499 instead of $549, and Fury X needs to simultaneously take a cut to $599. Then we're in a bit more interesting and competitive situation again.

I think the existing BIOS already is factory OC with aggressive voltage. 1050 MHz is an odd number; I suspect they originally intended to have two different factory BIOSes with something like 900 MHz for the lower and 1000 MHz for the higher. Similar to quiet/uber mode for R9 290X. They probably intended the low setting to match the GTX 980 Ti, and the high setting to match the GTX Titan X. But they were caught off-guard by the GTX 980 Ti coming in almost identical to the Titan X (and even better for AIB versions), and this threw off all their plans and made them go with a single hot-clocked BIOS instead.

The 1050 mhz number was floating around as a rumour for months before then 980 ti was launched.
