I only trust Anandtech Reviews because they provide compute and other world use factors in their reviews and not just gaming.

In short, the guy doing it came down with something...but, you can see his results in that post.
The person in that post compared it to the 980 instead of the 980Ti. Here's the comparison that matters right now when they're equivalently priced at $650 each:

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1496?vs=1513

And as someone who's bought AMD for close to a decade now, because they've been rock-solid GPUs that performed well and had a solid bang-for-the-buck, I think the 980Ti is the better choice. You get 2GB more VRAM, better performance in 99% of the stuff tested, quieter, cooler, and you get a nice air-cooled card rather than some hydro contraption.

I don't think I'll be buying either but I would prefer the water cooling setup over air any day of the week.

This place seems to be going down hill since the change of ownership. :\

I'm baffled at the delinquency of the review. This place surely has changed over the past year. Heck, even the FS/FT section is a far cry from what it was just a couple years ago.

Ryan is sick I believe hence the delay.

Supposedly review samples went out late as well, so its a double whammy of being sick and being very pressed for time. Tweet said he was pushing for today, but we will see.

Interesting review. Yes the fury x performs less than the 980ti in some games, faster in others. The caveat being BF4.

But what I found interesting is the performance of the 390x relative to the rest. At 4k it was offering some very nice frame rates. And the difference between the furyx/980ti to 390x/980 was far less than I would have assumed in the more intensive games, down to as little as 6fps.

I personally think the mistake, if there was one, that AMD made with this lineup was using the 390x/390 tag again. But thats it. There are so many people out there that are reveling in the delusion that AMD has failed. It boggles my mind why someone would take such gratification from the perceived failure of a rival company. And in all honesty it speaks volumes about those people as individuals.

I think AMD have done a stellar job of there current lineup. Looking forward to seeing it increased with the Fury aircooled (Which I hope isnt cut down) and the nano, which if priced accordingly could render the 390x/980 overpriced.

Looking forward to the anandtech review.

PS. I will say though that AMD claiming Fury X was an overclockers "dream" seemed a bit premature and is a choice of marketing that I dont fully understand. Nvidia cards have set the benchmark for overclockability. Not being able to replicate such a feat, but claiming the "Dream" of overclockers was a bad misstep. I dont buy in to the voltage unlock argument. If it was possible why would it not have been enabled.

Isn't BF4 slow on Fury due to DX11 which AMD didn't bother with because of Mantle? Why don't sites bench the Mantle version.

WOW. Just subbed to Digital Foundry. This is why I've stopped reading reviews and moved to Youtube for my game/hardware reviews.. but this is the slickest one I've seen yet. You can't beat this.

Tough to be unfair on this one, though almost every single writeup tried their best.. this shows how close the 980Ti and Fury X really are. Give and take with the Fury X taking the lead when not purposefully trying to tear it down with trash like "Project Cars" or some Batman game.
H said they pick only "new, popular games that are being played", yet they only had 1 game off this list-
http://store.steampowered.com/stats/
Which blows their game selections off the MAP when it comes to people playing them. All valid except maybe Football Manager & Clicker Heroes, the rest should be included in EVERY site's benchmarks.
Not to mention no one benches League of Legends which has over 35 million players, while not the most intensive game- we deserve to know if all these high end video cards are worth -anything- to the most popular games on the planet.
Or if you have to hand-select some goofball thing like Project Cars to make it look bad.

Unless I go build a VR rig next year, I'd probably not go higher than a R7 360 for my needs at 1080 with no aa/af, default in-game settings in the competitive games I play. Thinking about that or the R9 280, both seem like an extremely great value for $200 and under. And since I'm at just 1080, they'd do as good or better than my existing hardware.

This is a mature market, and review sites are NOT reflecting that at all. My friends play the games in the Steam top 10, and maybe a few others like Strife or LoL. Games people, millions in fact, actually play.

If it's pointless to buy a 980Ti or Fury X for those games- that needs to be reiterated over, and over again until those games are no longer popular. At least if we believe Kyle Bennett of H. Lot of shilling going on, and AMD needs to get desperate and start setting out review guidelines and start yanking more of these cards from sites that put reviews out like H's. That place has turned into a damn rag.

My guess is because nVidia has kindly asked them not to. As well as only use games with game works (like H).

The Mantle version of BF4 is terribly buggy. Honestly, it should be forgotten...
BF4 Mantle runs awesome maybe the best game experience I've had when it comes to consistent/smooth framerates. And I didn't' realize games had to have an arbitrary lack of bugs to be valid selections for a review. By that standard many games should have never been benched at all.

that is what gets passed off as facts, anecdotes without any proof. now a newbie comes in and is inundated with these "facts" and gets the wrong impression...

too tired to make my sentences better.

listening to internet experts is easier.
