Whether or not he's interested in her isn't the point. The point is that the assumption that anyone who behaves in that manner must be up to no good and can't be trusted is stupid.

OP, would you accept "coffee" from a complete stranger and not knowing what really is mixed in it? You'll have to be really retarded to do so.

Regardless if that married guy is in the same class as that female, he is still a stranger. She should be cautious of what his intentions are. To some it's just "lunch", to her it's not respecting her and inviting out of the blue.

You have an odd definition of respect and acceptable social interaction.

So you're one those people would just accept an invite/food of unknown source from someone you don't know. Respect is earned, not given. D:

How many cooks/Chefs do you know at the restaurants you eat at? Given the context of a shared class, yes I would accept an invite from someone I don't know. How do you earn/give respect without taking a chance in the first place? More importantly, why is your generation so frightened of the world in general?

You can say "no thanks" without getting all huffy and offended.

Personally I'd go have lunch with them unless they were obviously nuts and I didn't have anything else on.

Must > 90% probability. Often when probability is high, people make the extra leap themselves to say it's a certainty.

Yea, or go to lunch with a bunch of coworkers/classmates. The lady in the OP sounds kinda paranoid.

Hahaha - Wow, loved what this topic turned into while I was out at a client for a couple days.

We have the socially illiterates on one side that would NEVER touch such a HARSH social scene of going out to eat with a colleague/coworker - and the other side that says "well, why not? What's wrong with that?"

There is a clear social divide, and something tells me one side is more inclined to simply be socially inept and have their "safe zones" in life. I'm sure they will deny it, what with having all 2 social interactions per month, they are very social, right? Personally, I find the bitch to be ridiculously judgmental on something she can't possibly know - nor confirm, but assumptions are great for making asses out of people.

edit: For the record - for anyone socially retarded that can't yet take a hint: Asking someone to lunch is not (and CAN NOT) be in ANYWAY considered creepy. If you think it's creepy to ask someone to have some fucking lunch, you're an idiot.

edit2: Also - for the record while I was traveling, I took a women out for lunch... AND DINNER! And we were both married! And we didn't even work for the same company! OH MY! D:

You're a dude, right? Yeah... Get back to me when you can speak with the experience a woman has on the matter. Until then, speak for yourself and quit dismissing their opinions on the matter. If a woman thought it wasn't creepy then it isn't, if she does then she does. My wife and our daughter get hit on by creeps all too often so yes, it happens. You don't get to define what is creepy to someone else.

Let's put this on the other shoe... Based on what you are saying, if some guy buys you a coffee as a gift and then later asks to take you out to lunch, that never could be considered creepy by you. Right? It's not creepy if some strange guy treats you and then asks you out, therefore women shouldn't be creeped out either. Yeah...

If you think this is OK then I'm going to bet that you're one of those creeps.

Ahhhhh... I can attest to that.

At an old job, I had two gay friends. Both came out after I got to know them, and I think I was one of the few to know. However, I always got the feeling that they were interested in me, one more than the other. So, when they asked me to lunch alone, I went the first two or three times, then started blowing them off so they wouldn't get the wrong idea.

One of them asked me if I was also homersexual -- other did too, but while asking, I noticed that his hand moved towards mine, almost like he was ready to grab and hold it if I answered in the affirmative. That creeped me out a bit.

Oh, and both of them were bigger and taller than me.

P.S. Not homersexual. Not that I care if anyone is.

You might want to rephrase that part.

But it made me laugh!

IOW, they were interested in you and it creeped you out. I had a similar thing happen too, so join the club. Nothing against being gay or anything but I'm a vagitarian, I don't eat meat.

If you're a vegetarian you might as well just be a woman.

Probably half way through transitioning, what with all the estrogen in Soy.

I'm being sardonic, good for you and your health!

Umm, you might want to reread what I wrote. Look at the spelling, very carefully!

Let me get this straight. In an age where we have elected Obama twice, where we have common core in the schools, where grown adults don't understand the value or intentions of the Constitution, where college students are more likely to be able to name the 5 Simpsons characters rather than the 5 elements of the 1st amendment, where we have both Clintons lying to the entire country yet the female version is still being considered for President rather than prison, where radical muslims are taking over entire countries without firing a single shot, this example is the best you can come up with for this generation being socially retarded.

God help us all.

Well, maybe the part about the Simpsons was right, but knowing a list of elements is irrelevant unless you're in school and your teacher loves lists. Everyone knows about freedom of speech, and most know about the separation of church and state, freedom of religion, and freedom of association.

My friend was going to come over and play Mario Kart 64 with my brother and me last Saturday while his wife was at work, but he told me that I'd have to pack up the N64 and take it to my brother's house.

Why? Because the last time he came over to play Mario Kart 64 with us my roommate came home with his girlfriend and she found out that there was *gasp* a girl in the same room as us!

His wife is crazy. We didn't get to play Mario Kart 64 even after jumping through hoops because she "got sick" on her SECOND DAY EVER at work.
