itsnot so great anymore.
a single x850xt equals or beats or and cost much less.
a single 7900gs beats it by a wide margin and cost 200
a single x1900xt 256 beats the living crap out of sli 7600gt and cost less.

so as you can see not that great of a card.

Its clocked at 560/1400. That's all. And the board layout is different from the 7600GT CO too.

yeah, I thought it was stripped down becasue the caps were in a different place. Get a 7900gs, its a much better value. Probably 2x the performance.

Prices on the 7600 series have been falling for weeks in anticipation of the release of the 7650 series, before the end of September. That's next week! The 7650GS will be first. The 7650GS is already visible in NVidia's latest driver.

The 7650 series will be manufactured using the 80 nm process

I guess we'll soon know if there are really 16 pipelines in the G73 core, because if there is a 7650GT, it will use these 16 pipelines.

Actually, its more expensive

a single 7900gs beats it by a wide margin and cost 200

a bit more performance for twice the $$? no thanks

not everyone wants a power hungry card that can double as a space heater inside their case :Q

Its already proven in the lastest rivatuner. G73 has 4 quads, not 3 that everyone was led to believe.

For that price...uh, yeah, it is a great card.

Get some of your facts straight too.

I stand corrected

What I meant is: We know there are 16 pipelines (4 quads) in the G73 core. If all these pipes are not enabled in the coming G73 refresh (let's call it 7650GT), they will never be. The next midrange chip after that will be based on a G8x core.

From what I have been able to find out, the 7650GS seems to be still only a 12-pipe card. There has to be a 7650GT not far behind.

It's cheap on account of being cheap to make plus plenty o' competition in that segment. But it's not really particularly cheap as even the same monger sells a BFG variant for $114.

Yep. Tons of competition in the low end segment now. Hard to believe I know, but hey, take the profits while you can get them.

7600GTs are about on par from what I understand if not a little faster than the ole 6800GT's of yore. I paid $377 for my 6800GT back around the time I registered, so this is a pretty good deal these days. Still plenty of umph left for gaming if you don't go higher than oh 12x10.

But as it's been pointed out there are other cards that pack more bang for your buck. The X1900XT 256mb is pretty hawt. Both in performance/price and thermal output.

It is not exactly so cheap.

Also, I would anyday get a 7600GT over X850XT PE. Also, those who say X850XT is faster, try both cards on SM2.0 and then tell whether you can tell the difference, else it is all misleading with one doing SM3.0 and the other doing SM2.0 as happens in online benchies.

Ok, I realize the space heater quip was partly in jest but let's get real here. I'm a little tired of people saying the X1*** series cards are going to light your house on fire or melt away the flesh on your leg if it comes in contact with your computer. The MAX output of a 256MB X1900XT is somewhere in the vicinity of 100W. A cheap spaceheater expels somewhere around 1500W. Good comparison.

A pair of 7600GTs in SLI output ~72W at load. I'm sure the heat blast from that extra 30W will be horrendous. Not to mention the fact that the XT will be dispeling the the heat out the back of the case while the GTs will be blowing into the case.

An x850XT runs on par with or slightly faster than a 7800GS, so yeah it's faster than a 7600GT

The SM issue is way overhyped i've decided, what do you actually lose having a x850xt vs a 7600GT?

from my tests, the 7600gt pci-e is faster than my 6800Ultra agp in lower resolutions (<= 1280x1024), though I would expect the 6800Ultra and comparable ATI cards to do better at higher resolutions while the 7600gt takes more of a hit (pixel pipelines [12 vs. 16] & memory bandwidth [23.2GB/s vs. 35.2GB/s]).

I have the BFG 7600GT OC 256MB PCI-E. System it's in is a 3700+ sd stock, asus a8n-vm csm, 2x512MB mushkin pc3200, FSP AX400.

it's a great value at $115 after rebate for the bfg (search newegg for it).

God, they still use 128-bit memory? That in itself would turn me away. Not unless you want to be stuck with 1024 x 768 for most games.

it outperforms most last gen cards that had 256bit (with the exception of the x850xt). it has more than enough memory bandwidth to run games at 1280*1024
