Why isn't Arnold thanking steroids for where he is today?

Without the steroids, he wouldn't have won Mr. Universe. Without that there would be no acting career, no money and no governor.

I like how he was talking about the Soviet occupation of Austria, but left out the fact that Austria was allied to Nazi-Germany in WWII.

Arnold has already admitting using steroids during his day. It didn't sit too well with Jim Weidler who told him to come to the US to train. But Jim understood it was the "thing" and guys were doing it to win.

Plus its not like shooting up will instantly give you muscle, you still ahve to work to build them.

If shooting steroids can turn fat into muscle with zero work I'll be in line to shoot up.

Well I can talk from personal experience. There's no comparing "natural" development and being on gear. It's quite true that Schwarzenegger has made the most out of his genetic gifts but you would have NEVER known his name if it wasn't for nandrolone and a variety of anabolic/androgenic agents.

Arnold didn't do a "little" steroids. He was poking those glutes at 1-3cc a pop twice a week if not every other day for YEARS. If any the typical twerps at P&N did a single 12wk cycle of Dianabol and Deca-Durabolin (toss in a little Test for good measure) plus a disciplined workout regimen and clean, nutrient dense diet . . . 20lbs minimum.

Of course if you don't get your natural test back to work afterwards then most of that muscle mass will leave almost as fast as it arrived.

Regardless, Schwarzenegger now says drugs are bad . . . and that's his perogative. Kinda like Bush saying making huge loans to executives is bad for business.

I gave up on Arnold's speech at the covention b/c it was total BS.

Anyway, AMC was showing one of Arnold's best acting roles (Terminator 1) so I tuned it in since it was a lot more realistic than his speech.

Conan the Barbarian is on now . . . steroids . . . pure steroids. But truth be told, Arnold was a total bad arse.

How do you know Arnold ISN'T thanking steroids OP?

In the Republican paradigm, it doesn't matter how you acheive success. It matters if you have it. Success is gained by your accumulation of wealth. GWB inherited his wealth. If he was born to an immigrant latino family he'd be cleaning toilets at best, given his native intelligence. He also would have had a lot of trouble learning the English language, given his already poor language skills. In the Republican paradigm, this isn't what matters. It's that NOW he's rich and is the president. No matter that more people voted for Gore.

Similarly, Arnold is successful NOW and his steroids aren't important.

In the Republican worldview, people are deemed to ALWAYS get what they deserve. Bush, because he is president, is said to have deserved it. A poor black mother in Compton deserves her fate, say the Republicans, because she is simply in that situation.

uh, whatever u say dude...If someone works for something and succeeds, then yeah, they deserve what they get. There are always going to be poor people, its part of life and part of every country. Do they deserve it? no. Does that mean rich people dont deserve to be rich? Hell no, they earned it and got themselves there through good judgements, hard work and maybe a little luck.

Sorry, but your statement does not apply to Bush at all.

Wow....

Not only do progressives hate people that were born rich, but apparently they also spite people who came to this country and developed wealth entirely on their own merit.

It must really suck to be so bitter about another individual?s achievements.
Oh well, with a little fortune we can all be poor together in the not so distant future.

^^^(Isn't it amazing how anyone, and I do mean anyone, can contribute vile dribble to a discussion spawned from crap?)

BBD:

A casual acquaintance of mine who was a pretty big guy but took up triathlons in his late 30's worked out with Arnold for about a year. He was a big fan of AS. Anyway, one day after Master's swim practice while a bunch of us were showering and not looking at each other's penises I asked him if he or Arnold did drugs. (This was about 1985.) "Oh, yeah, we were shooting up once or twice a week. I was 280 lbs." (This guy is about 6'1" and was then about 210. He still had about 17-18" arms.) He also mentioned that he was worried he had some permanent organ damage because he could only run about 10 minutes per mile pace and he was about 5 years younger than me and I was running twice as fast. I haven't seen him in quite a few years, but your post reminded me of him. I hope he's still alive because according to my current training buddy, Dominic Castellano (former world powerlifting champion and dead lift champion), the '80's was a very wild time.

Why would he? He has already admitted to using them in the past and has apologized for it. He now renounces them. I think that's enough on the subject and he shouldn't be tortured for it for the rest of his life because of a mistake he make 20 years ago that he has admitted to and apologized for.

Exactly what the Republican worldview, except that traditionally poor people deserve it. I must say the Republican worldview is more consistent than yours is. Repulicans don't see the role of luck. Take GWB. He deserved it I guess even though his wealth truly has nothing to do with his work, judgment or anything else, only to whom he was born.

Interesting how you equate wealth accumulation with acheivement. I hope you don't consider yourself a Christian. A true conservative non-Christian you are....

Where does it ever say that a christian can't have wealth and associate wealth with success?

You're a freakin' moron!

It's flame-bait, but there's a lot of truth to this, so I think 'moron' is a little strong.

Perhaps you'd care to offer a high-probability alternative path to making Arnie governor?

I guess the truth shows how ignorant you really are. Now who's the moron?

Do you really think you would have ever know who Aronld was if he had never won the Mr. Universe title? And how did he win? STEROIDS, period. This was the only way to win this award since everyone else who compete was on steroids. Without steriods he didn't stand a chance. He was just luckier in that he was able to turn winning the Mr. Universe title into something more. If he had never won the Mr. Universe tilte, no one would care whether he was a Democrat or a Republican

EXACTLY. Jesus was a poor man and liked it that way. He knew material possessions weren't imporatnt. At some point in time Protestants started creating loopholes to make money. Are these ideas backed up by anything in the bible? No. The bible is clear that rich people won't go to heaven. Any attempts by pseudo-christians to show otherwise shows just how far people are from Jesus Christ himself.

Amen. The Cotton Mather and Martin Luther descendents have perverted Jesus' teachings. St. Francis of Assisi is much closer.

Modern American Christians are praising Bush as they drive their excessive SUVs out of the driveways of their $500,000 homes. Puhleeze.
