Oooooh, get mister culturally sensitive. Careful your inferiority complex is showing.

Poor lamb, did he hurt your feelings?
Don't worry, we think you're special.

Don't worry. We'll save your ass again.

Or will we have to kick it again?

The only reason you idiots haven't slaughtered each other by the millions since ww2 is because the "uncultured yanks" will put you in time out if you try to start european war #4324325. And by time out, i mean bomb you back to the stone age. Eat shit, europoor peasant.

lmao!

Finally a Brit with a sense of humor

Mate, Piers Morgan is serious business.

Its taken us ages to get rid of the useless tosser, we ain't taking him back.

Of course if he was to become part of your gun death statistics it would be ironic (accidentally of course). :sneaky:

The press is so full of idiots that he fits right in. They are no longer happy to report the news, they want to make the news.

Do you know how many Americans rely on the BBC now for news? We can't get honest news from our press anymore.

Sad but true. The CSM and a few other companies still do actual journalism, but that's not really the norm anymore. I know I will normally read a BBC story over a CNN one, for example.

In the U.S. we're saturated with guns (one per person?), so obviously the laws will have little if any or even a negative effect.

Exactly. Any attempt to restrict guns fails because there are already too many guns- you just hurt those who play by the rules (aka victims not criminals).

If you tried to take away guns from the people to get to a place where guns laws could work, you would start the Civil War 2.

The gov would just flick a couple of switches and all your revolutionaries wouldn't be able to communicate, they would break down into thousands of separate groups who would fight each other for power. Then the gov would just do clean up

You would be surprised. Some of these people who hoard guns come up with all kinds of contingency plans. I have known a few. Plus it would be very hard to get a volunteer American army (many of whom are gun nuts themselves) to go and enforce some sort of crazy gun control. The real battle would be within the military.

I have a gun because the world is dangerous. That is enough for me.

By some people's logic I should not have a gun, but then again I shouldn't have many of my freedoms if you have a collectivist world view. I should be forced to recycle, drive a small car, never buy incandescent light bulbs, buy American, never eat fast food, never smoke, etc. The personal freedoms of Americans allow us to make MANY bad choices that hurt our fellow humans. Guns are just part of it.

I often imagine that one day centuries from now people will look back at this age- an age of waste and violence- with the same disdain that we look back on slave owners. But those looking back will have a fraction of the personal freedom we do, as the corrupt central government they live under makes most choices for them.

As someone who grew up with vast freedoms, you could not take them away. Once your mindset shifts to being an individual it is hard to voluntarily give up choices.

That is why China has their firewall, because once that horse is out of the barn it is impossible to put back. If the future ends up like I think, it will because m/billions of free thinking individuals died to prevent it, guns in their hands...

I'm not emotional. I'm well versed on my rights and will die defending them.

Know what's bad? I'd die to defend yours too.

This is the cannon fodder that's become cliche.

My money is you'd turn opportunist at the first sign of a riot in your neighborhood and loot someone else's stuff.

The sad thing is one's neighbors will be their worse enemy in a crisis where we have a major meltdown, wasting most of the available resources out of greed.

Yeah but there's something extra annoying when someone comes and chooses to live in a country then tries to tell the inhabitants how to run it.
Wow! I just imagined Piers being MORE annoying than he was over here!

Feel free to enjoy the beeb though.

I've never watched him. Wouldn't even know what network he's on.

I don't watch the news or read news sites. Nothing on there I care about.

I come across his rants every now and then when they are linked and he comes over as an arrogant, supercilious prat that pontificates way too much when its none of his business.

Uh Memento?

Memento had a completely scrambled time line. The movie I am talking about was the French movie Irreversible, and was simply backwards. The first scene was the end, and then it linearly progressed going back in time.

So the people were walking backwards?

That would be weird.

Haha. No. The scenes were in linearly reversed chronological order, but they were themselves not shot backwards.

In Memento the scenes were more randomly distributed. So much so that years after the movie was released fans were still arguing about the possible orders of the scenes...

Different supreme courts interpret the constitution differently. As it is written, guns apply to a "well regulated militia" - but you never hear gun nuts bring that up.

regulated = highly skilled. Militia is an army of the people.

Try learning the meaning of the words first.

Honestly though we have the right to keep and bear arms so we don't have a Hitler or Stalin rise to power. Our right to keep and bear arms has kept it that way for so long and as long as the second amendment is in place, all other rights will remain in place. It is the teeth by which the bill of rights can be enforced. You can't take away freedom of speech, when you have the second amendment. Why do you think dictators round up the guns before taking away your right to speak against the government and protest?

Regulated just means subject to rules and regulations. It has nothing to do with skill.

Sorry, but you're wrong. While we today use regulated to mean that, at the time of writing the Constitution 'well regulated' (as a clause or phrase) meant practiced, or competent. Look it up, it's a well researched point that isn't in dispute among experts on either side of the debate.
