Disney is one of the worst for holding titles back and slowly releasing them. As someone else said, we will see 2 a year, one catalog and one day and date new release.

Disney is also the worst offender for cramming in so many previews in their title. Honestly, people don't buy movies to watch 15+ mins of previews before getting to the feature presentation.

I agree....I do believe though that if you push menu it takes you right to the main menu of the DVD.

Most movies come from 35mm film, which if well cared for can provide resolution and quality well beyond simple 1080p HD. That's why films projected onto massive screens at the local cineplex can still look good. All they need to do is transfer the 35mm print from analog to digital and then down-rez to 1080p.

Finding Nemo is somewhat of an exception to this, however, as it was digitally rendered. It was never actually "filmed". Theoretically they can re-render from the original source files to produce a native 1080p version of the film. (This of course assumes that it was originally rendered at some lower resolution such as 720p. If it was originally rendered at 1080p then no re-render would be needed.)

Most Disney DVDs disable the Menu button during the previews and advertisements. Usually you need to fast-forward through them.

Re rip with DVD Shrink, HDVD Shrink, or Blu Shrink. Problem solved.

And aside from better uncompressed audio, would HD really look that much better with these cartoon type movies? I guess things like hair would show more detail but there just isn't that much there like a real motion picture.

The increase will be minimal in "flat" cartoons. He's right that detail in these movies is often limited. A simple upconverter can usually do the job of smoothing out the border lines and not much more needs to be done. It will look better...but minimally.

Yes but, How far are you away. when watching a movie I bust out my bean bag and it situates only 3 to 4 feet back so, I can still see pixels on a 720p image.

Most people sit too far back from their Source which is why I believe HIGHER resolution hasn't been adopted sooner. That and tube tvs had Free AA. Together, it blurs/blends just fine 8 feet away.

It's about Details nowadays people, and HD is wasted if you can't see the telephone polls 200 yards back in the movie
