Pixar likely won't explore it's backlog until a format is officially dead(in this case HD DVD)

I believe it is officially scheduled to be released at the end of this year.

But we did get "Cars".

In any case, here is a useful link with upcoming release dates.

sarcasm?

I agree with him. I will not go to a movie theater. Too many mouth breathers there.
I'd rather sit in my home on watch it on my HT.

Same, I am always spooked of getting lice from public fabric based chairs. At home I can also melt real butter over my popcorn (no fake crap), and best of all, have access to soft drinks and snacks that are not available at theaters. I doubt they will serve (Deglet Noor) dates anytime soon in the majority of theaters... I must have strange tastes.

Pixar will probably release one, maybe two back catalog titles per year (they don't have *that* many movies, and they do want to make the most they can off them).

Finding Nemo has been announced for release this fall, no specific date has been set. My guess is it will be released on the same date as Wall-E.

not sarcasm. the actual quality of HD is better than what is shown in theaters. I still like the theater experience though. Some movies just have to be seen on the big screen

Ive always wondered how movies that arent even out in HD format get shown on TV in high def? Where are they getting these from? for example Finding Nemo has been aired in 720P and it looked fantastic, here's a screen capture: Click

50" Plasma at 7' with Def Tech's blasting is pretty close.
And I don't have to stand in line for my Milk Duds and beer.

That is true in most cases, but recently they've had this new projector put in at the local loews, and dame this thing is FINEEE. Still, i don't want to pay 10 bux to see that once, i'd rather see it 10+ times for 20 bux.

If you watch a movie at it's native resolution from a good source, they're always nice. But if u have an HD monitor, then ur screwed at close range, That 720 pic is Fine when seen in a box, but u stretch it out on my 3007wfp and u get, This fuking does not pwn

No doubt. Once theaters increase their digital projection quality (once it becomes standard) on a more massive scale and high quality HD digital recording becomes standard in Studio film production, you'll see a dramatic increase in quality. Hollywood and the theaters that they depend on to show their product have been competing with television since the 50s...which has been a good thing in terms of increasing quality presentation. Cinemescope and extremely wide film formats (70mm) being the most prominent advance. The switch to digital occurred well before it did at home (still not widespread in the home market, whereas the majority of theaters now offer digital projection, THX, and other DD 7.1 systems)

What's interesting, though, is how Hollywood studios have recognized the significant income they now receive from DVD sales, and have been steadily pushing the Home market (shorter theater runs, releasing quicker to Video, packing extras onto big releases, etc). It's as if they are intentionally trying to phase out the theater experience, even though I doubt that will happen. The theaters are currently playing catch-up with home viewing in terms of the technology that is available...but very few people have access to that high-end tech. Ave Joe isn't going to be blasting a front projection 1080p lossless 7.1 audio HD source at his home anytime soon; but he will be able to pay about $10 for that experience within the next few years....on a much larger screen.

Disney is one of the worst for holding titles back and slowly releasing them. As someone else said, we will see 2 a year, one catalog and one day and date new release.

Disney is also the worst offender for cramming in so many previews in their title. Honestly, people don't buy movies to watch 15+ mins of previews before getting to the feature presentation.
