I'd also like to complain about Kansas City being in the AFC West. Kansas City is in the middle of the fucking country... it is nowhere near the west. :whiste:
Because of the sheer number of teams along the Eastern seaboard, Memphis and New Orleans are both "the West" in the NBA, and the Northwestern division covers an area from Minnesota south to Oklahoma and west to the Pacific Ocean, or roughly 40% of the contiguous states by area. So, yeah, geographic conferences can be stupid.
As far as cities with multiple teams in the same league, that only happens in New York, LA and Chicago, and all three of those cities are so large that individual boroughs/suburbs/neighborhoods can be larger than entire cities with teams in that league. Manhattan and Brooklyn both have a larger population than Salt Lake City; why not give them separate teams?
