I have used directron for cases (but it has been a long time since I bought one). My gripe with them was that the case was OOS and when I asked (by phone!) I was told "it just came in today"... three days later when I asked (by phone) I was told "we are putting it on the truck today".... another three days later when I asked (by phone) I was told "we shipped it today, but don't have your tracking number yet"..... another four days later.... I got an email..... "here is your tracking number"... two days later I got the case.
Now I have no issue with backordered stock being somewhat of an unknown, but I simply will not tolerate being lied to by ANY vendor.
ExcaliburPC is a place that offered me a good experience on some ABit motherboards. They are located "next door" to ABit and I consider them to be THE resource when I want ABit. (I liked their customer service also.)
I shop quite a bit at NewEgg, but have noticed that over the last several months I need to double-check the price I am paying. As shown above, sometimes they are not even close. Other times, they are right in line with the better deals out there. But unless there is a disparity of significance, I will normally chooose NewEgg. I have had nothing but pleasant experiences when I needed to 'fix' an order, or (only happened once) RMA a DOA Graphics Card. At that time, I paid shipping to them, but they paid for the shipping to me. I didn't mind splitting the cost because they have no way of knowing if I am some idiot that had just burned up the card trying to match the exaggerated OC claims of others or not. They were polite, very accessible and satisfied me completely when I needed it.
my best advise, if you are having good or bad experiences with any vendor, PAY ATTENTION TO THAT. Further, be cautious about what you believe in terms of "customer comments" whether on the vendor website or a trusted forum..... People have a hard time being objective and some love controversy...... Just don't patronize any vendor that didn't please you in the past.
