Why no A2DP on OSX?

Just learned the hard way that apple dosent support A2DP in its bluetooth stack in OSX. Really sucks...

Anyway to enable it?

Refresh my memory, what is A2DP? Audio 2 Domething Pomething...

A2DP is a bluetooth profile that allows for the use stereo bluetooth headsets (or even like in my case, bluetooth home stereo adapters). Kind of surprised its not supported since its been around for a little while now.

Leopard will have A2DP. Not sure if they will (ever) release a Tiger update with support for A2DP. Even my phone has A2DP

I've hooked a stereo bluetooth headset up to my mac before.... it didnt sound very good though, could this be a result of no A2DP?

most likely it was just using the standard bluetooth headset profile, from what I can tell, mono & low quality.

I was wondering why that was the case with my stereo headset
