Hi, I have a network of 3 PCs.
They're all basically the same (AthlonXP 2200+, P4 2.5, P4 1.7) Windows XP Service Pack 2 with all the latest updates. Zonealarm 5.5, Kaspersky antivirus.
After a couple of hours, I can't access any sites any more from either Firefox or IE. But yet, some of my apps may still pull info from the Internet. This happens across all my machines.
Examples:
1) I'm doing a bittorrent download. I then try to access web sites through Firefox. My torrent file is still downloading but Firefox and IE still time out.
2) I'm doing an audio stream from a website. I then try to access web sites through Firefox. My audio stream is still working but Firefox and IE still time out.
3) I'm doing nothing. After an hour or so, I then try to access web sites through Firefox. Nada.
ATTEMPTED SOLUTIONS:
1) I tried refreshing my ip (ipconfig /release => ipconfig /renew).
2) I then tried flushing out the DNS (ipconfig /flushdns).
RESULTS: NOTHING. I still can't access the Internet.
HOWEVER... If I simply log off my account and log back in (not going through the long reboot procedure), my web access is back.
NOW I'M WONDERING, what is happening and what can I do to prevent this problem? I've done virus scans and Adaware scanning and seen no problems. I've tried the online scanning tools. Nothing.
