I really don?t understand why people voted for a man who lied to the American people about WMD in Iraq, launched a War based on false claims, the reason why terrorist are in Iraq, increased anti-Americanism throughout the World. Ok Democrats aren?t that great either they lie too, so why not vote for a third party candidate or an independent candidate. What I mean is that you got two parties that lies a lot to the public about their policies and are not be trusted so why not vote for a independent candidate? Ok Nader is not your type, form a new party!

Please don?t bash me I?m not here to start anything.

I know, childish and crude, but in my obviously not so humble opinion, most people are sheep, thats why.

Everyone knew that Nader had no chance of actually winning this election. On that same note, most people disliked one candidate by a larger margin than the other. With the election being speculated to be very close, everyone needed to vote for the lesser evil this case to keep the other party out of office.

I have to agree with the lesser of 2 evil attitudes as the best explanation also. Most people did realize that a 3rd party vote would be wasted more than a vote for either candidate. Also, there were a few states, mine included, that did not have any 3rd party candidate choices avialable this election year.

Ok if he lies he's paying the price, we'll vote for a candidate that doesn't.

Yeah but the"lesser evil" is not good enough to run for office.

Sure, assuming that someone won't lie is pretty naive, it's really difficult if not impossible to find someone who does not lie. So it's important to look at the degree of a lie. If I lie about my age to a woman I'm casualyl talking to at the bar, is that as bad as lying to the police to get a man arrested for a crime he did not commit?

The only thing that prevents independent or third-party candidates from winning is the apathy of the voters. If voters would actually be proactive about learning about the candidates, it wouldn't require a half-million dollars to compete for a two-bit seat in a state house of representatives.

But because the vast majority of voters make their minds up based on what TV ads they saw while sitting on their butts, and won't participate in campaigning, the third-party candidates cannot compete.
