because drifting is required to go fast in rally racing. I love rally racing game the most too, it's super intense.

Along with local rally events [at the fairground] and a weekend hosted by Subaru at PIR many years ago - that video is one of the main reasons why I mod'd my 02 WRX - it's A LOT of fun to race around a muddy track in the local events [no way in hell I'd take it on the pro courses]. That video is frikken awesome and showcases

If there is a local rally event weekend in your area - highly suggest you pay the fee to race around the track - awd isn't necessary..but it helps..and it's a lot of fun [you'll need a helmet of course]

Here's another video showcasing rally racing in Canada [they changed the music due to copyright crap]

10mins of nothing but rally crashes with no SHIT music or other bullshit, straight engine sounds.

that led me to click a variety of related links.

notably, Latvala's 2009 Portugal crash (yikes! and they were unharmed?! damn).

And then, I found this:

those cars must be unimaginably reinforced in the front, considering smaller animals often lead to devastating crashes at far slower speeds.
Then again, horses are a good height off the ground. Maybe far less weight was concentrated in a small area, and it just rode up on the hood and then kicked its shoes off as it went flying.

And you like many people here that like to bash nascar have no idea what is involved with the sport. Yes, 99% of the fans of beer drinking rednecks and the cars are antiquated carb'd cars. But that doesn't mean the drivers are not highly skilled and the competition is intense. There is a reason that drivers that are top tear drivers in other disciplines struggle at best in nascar. Nope, I am not saying nascar drivers are the best in the world. They would struggle just as much going to another discipline, the point is that they are not a bunch of backward fools that can't drive. If it's so easy go out and show them how to do it and you will be a millionaire next week.

Of course they're skilled and competitive but you certainly can't put them on the same level as Formula 1, grand touring, or rally drivers.

Like all forms of racing, love only a few.
Rally, I can't get into that much. They race against a clock. That's like qualifying in any other motorsport.

But damn. Some friggin impressive moments there.

But...they race against the coarse, their cars, themselves...

WRC is a fantastic sport in major need of a rebirth to return it to it's former glory. and subaru....needs moar subaru.

WRC cars are built like tanks. I've seen crashes with the current spec cars that I didn't think anyone would survive and the drivers literally walked away from the wreck without injury. Those care are astonishing.

enjoy watching rally racing more then others. Rally racing makes small cars look awesome. In college days we setup a motorcycle rally course in College campus, it was fun and challenging.

I liked rally better in the old days, when you had to actually make the car to race it. (no turbo or awd on cars you sell, then none in the race either). Think they only had to make 200 to count, but still, 200 > 0.

Not to mention some of the old Group B cars pushed 600hp+

for the lulz let's just make the events dry

That would completely ignore the history of NASCAR.

NASCAR racing began because 'shine runners were looking to see who had the fastest car.

NASCAR and alcohol have history.

There's a reason Miller and Bud and Busch and Royal Crown own races.

marked thread for when i get home to enjoy all of the youtube links. awesome!

*edit* shouldn't this be in the garage forum? or rather, why don't we get rid of the garage forum? OT is slow nowadays because there is no cross traffic.

i dont care how much skill it takes, its still more boring then televised bowling

IMO watching any kind of racing on TV is boring. It just doesn't translate well as a spectator sport. I don't understand how people actually pay to go to a race and spectate, considering you can only really see one corner if you're in the bleachers.
