If you are part of an online support group for the particular issue you are facing - understood. You will post and provide details on what happened, how you feel, what you are worried about, how to deal with it, etc. etc.
But, you are on a website, like ATOT, and you are just shooting the shit. Why would you reveal personal details of your life? Or, on sites like Reddit?
There are some pretty specific events that have occurred in regards to your issue, that:
1) can be used against you (to troll, bash, humiliate or even find you)
2) can be discovered by any of the parties involved in your situation (i.e. I got drunk and passed out on my brother's dog, killing it, while I was crashing at his place after I got kicked out of my apartment for running a human trafficking operation because I was looking for someone for my father to torture so that he can stop torturing my sister because she needs to take care of my mom who was just released from prison for attempting to assassinate the President of Bolivia in the 80s)
There are just some things I would not share with any one on the net. In person, with a friend, a shrink or a parole officer - yeah of course.
But, to a random sea of people who may just use my info to harm me or turn out to be someone involved in my craziness - no.
