Why so few 1920x1200 displays?

I would take a 27 1440p over a 27 4k screen for one reason.

a 27' is too small for 4k.

The text is going to be tiny I hope you have the eye sight of a 16 year old.

Nope, I have the brain of a 35 year-old, so I'd use scaling.

27" 4K at 150% = same real-estate as 1440p but sharper.

I generally don't use scaling at all and prefer to just get a bigger screen. However I will check this out in a 27' 4k screen to see if I like it.

If you use OSX then 4K is basically 1080p with retina text.

Yep, OSX scaling on HiDPI displays is generally very good. All apps seem to handle it just fine, except full screen games that still use blurry interpolation on non-native resolution.

On windows 10 it is decent, but the problem is there are many many ways to write apps on Windows, and many of these frameworks don't handle high DPI mode properly

I've been rocking a Dell 2405FPW (1920x1200) since 2005. Been trying to buy a 1440 for for a couple years now but it seems that every new monitor I've looked into has issues. I keep telling myself that pretty much ANYTHING should be an improvement at this point but here I am still waiting for that perfect panel.

Got my hopes up for the Viewsonic XG2703-GS (1440p/165Hz/IPS/G-SYNC) which should finally be releasing mid-august, other than that I don't see much on the horizon.

This GTX 1080 keeps telling me to shut up and compromise but my nit-picking brain keeps saying HELL NO just wait.

Either I'm WAY over thinking this, or I'm being smart. No clue which it is...
