itunes was the main reason i didn't buy an ipod. it's not that hate their software, i would just rather have it detect as any normal usb drive and not have to have their software installed on all my computers.

When they first came out for pc, as I recall, you had to use MusicMatch!!!

What I don't like is people who waste money on it just to have it as a fashion item and only put like 2 cds on it.

I like the actual iPods but i hate the way you get music onto them! Much prefer my MP3 player to mount as a HDD so that i can use it easily on any computer without needing software. The actual iPod and its OS is designed very well.

most people on here generally hate what is mainstream because its what "cool" people use or do and fit in, but a lot of geeks on this board cannot fit in regardless of how hard they try and they are angry at the world because they cannot fit in, which is why they hate items similar to iPods.

my vote went to the last one, and I own a 512mb shuffle, and use it about 4-5 times a week while I workout.

Mine is 3G, i had it when people were asking me if it was a cell phone, therefore I don't fall into the trendy demographic. I don't like that it's become a fad/trend/etc. but there's to be done about that.

Here is why I hate iPods.

How many of you who own an iPod actually looked around the market at all of your options before buying the iPod?

I'd say that most of you will say 'oh me! me!' or 'I saw my friends so I know it was the best' or something else along those lines. The fact of the matter is that most iPod purchasers went straight to the store with the desire to buy an iPod. Why? Is it because of the hype?

There's another media player out there I want that is definately not an iPod. However, if I share this desire with an iPod owner they will tell me that I am crazy but for some reason can never tell me why. Ah, you own an iPod and are now an expert on these kind of devices so facts do not matter!

I hate iPods because there are plenty of other options, a few of which are just as good, but owners of iPods rarely even look at the market options available to them before taking the iPod plunge.

love my pod... and I did some serious research on mp3 players. Used CNET, Consumer reports, used input from numerous sources, and found that the ipod was the best choice. My remote cable went, and they shipped me one within 2 days of me reporting it.
If my wife wanted an mp3 player now, I would only consider an apple product.

They're too expensive and annoyingly trendy. People brag about how many artists or songs they have in their iPod (see the recent OT thread) and think it means something.
When I buy a portable MP3 player it'll just be something relatively cheap that plays MP3s as its sole function.

I'm not saying everyone should get one just because I have one. i'm saying that telling people they are dumb for buying an iPod is pretty damn stupid and ignorant in its own right. he has no clue what people's needs are when they choose to buy an ipod, nor their budget.

someone may get an ipod on its sleek looks alone, and to them, since it looks better, it is their choice no matter what the cost is, because they have disposable income they can throw away at it.

that still doesn't make them dumb.

I hate how it seems like you have to buy some sort of ipod protector to use one w/o getting it covered in scratches.

I put my ugly Dell DJ in my pocket unprotected, often with my keys, and it doesn't have any scratches on the screen area.
