So, all these news articles on various websites continue to state it is unsure what the actual format is of the $300 player Walmart has ordered 2million units. However, how can this actually be true when each and every article also states the Chinese press release describes the manufacturer enlisting TDK's help for some parts.
Is TDK not an exclusive supporter of Blu-Ray?
Plus, if the order is not to be actually shipped until the last months of 2007, and into 2008, then it still fits the notion of it being Blu-Ray since Sony stated the goal of bringing a $300 BD player to market around the turn of the year.
I hold no knowledge of Chinese and cannot begin to argue how the press release is meant to be read, but it apparently translates funny in English and combining that knowledge, with the fact that TDK is involved, kind of makes me believe the answer is rather clear.
