In fact, I actually think I've had two offers from people in Hawaii and I turned both of them down because each time the situation was just too shady. I'm not exactly sure why, but I get the feeling that it would be "easier" to scam someone becuase it seems like it would be so much harder to do anything about it. I know that sounds kind of odd, but then again when I actually visited hawaii people were like "oh my god whatever you do don't leave anything in your car when you park" so maybe it's just the state pasttime...

That's retarded. I'll ship to anywhere provided I have cash in hand first. I'm Alaskan, and this tends to be quite annoying. It's usually not too much more to ship to us, but people outright say 'no shipping to AK or HI'. I'd be happy to pay the difference if people would actually sell to me! It's such a pain buying on eBay because some uneducated motherfu*ker thinks we're part of Russia and 'avoids shipping overseas' (yes, I've had that mentioned to me in a few emails).

So please people, if Alaskans or Hawaiians want to buy your stuff -- let them. And let them pay the difference in shipping. But don't rape us on it, either. I can't order from NewEgg because they'll charge me $50 to ship an IDE cable by Fedex 2nd Day.

doesn't alaska have days and nights that last months...overnight shipping would be a bitch huh?

LOL

I think that only applies to places in the world above the Arctic Circle or below the Antarctic Circle, though; not a place like Anchorage.

It applies to the Fairbanks area though.

Fairbanks isn't above the arctic circle, just so you know. That's like... a few miles from here.

I wouldn't know much about Alaska anyway. I stand corrected.

One additional reason is that shipping, can take up to 2 weeks standard, from what I've heard, 6 weeks isn't entirely unheard of either. Priority is the ONLY way to avoid that.

When I post prices, I say the price where I have offered to cover shipping is valid only for the contiguous states, Alaska and Hawaii must pay the difference in price. I don't think that's too much to ask. If a person in either state wasn't standard parcel post, they gotta pay up front, because I don't want my goods tied up waiting for payment for 6 weeks because I think it's more likely that a person will stop communicating when there is a distance of time involved. Again, I don't think that's too much to ask, and if it's a problem then too bad.

Actually, UPS recently (in the past few months) started allowing for ground class delivery to HI. Package takes usual ground transport then is sent over the Pacific by air, on space available basis. However, the cost is only slightly less than air rates! Nonetheless, merchants now have the ground option but probably do not bother updating their backend systems.

 What a retard

LOL, I am being 100% serious, I've never travelled anywhere in the US where the residents were so insistant about it not being as safe as it seemed.
