There's an outside chance populism could Trump the continued economic decline of American workers...
But they'll still be hurting, as this trend has existed since the 70s and I cannot see it being reversed... only mitigated.
Attempts to mitigate via employment will soon (10-20 years) be cut down. No one can save labor from its fate.
I just think the people, in their plight, are reaching out for saviors. Candidates who appear to have economic answers.

I WAS going to agree with you. My own opposition to Trump had nothing to do with what he was saying and everything to do with how I perceived his character. Which was, um, well . . . part of a wise and beautiful woman.

I don't disagree. I'm just saying that there are three paths. Trump becomes the next Reagan or Bill Clinton, Trump is ineffective or marginally effective and either gets replaced with another firebrand or barely squeaks by, or Trump is so awful that America seeks the establishment under the theory that less worse is better. People can be cold but if burned, still avoid close proximity to fire believing that a little less cold is better than not being cold and maybe getting burned again.

How the !@#$ did you read "support for conservatism" in my explicit (or so I thought) call for something new and radical to break the status quo? And given the content of my posts since the election, I imagine you're aware of the context. I'll try to be clearer. 2020 and beyond is the time to capture these desperate voters by heralding a New Deal 2.0 agenda. Sanders had the right idea, people are hungry for such change. Offer it to them.

There's a lesson you can learn from the elections of Obama and Trump. Tap into that voter energy.
They aren't battered spouses, they're drowning workers. Save them.
