Hi,
Is it true that there will be no Intel Application Accelerator support for non-RAID Canterwood/Springdale systems, ie. people who only use 1 harddisk?!
Isn't that a huge performance drawback, cause in a review with benchmarks at AnandTech they say following: "Here we see the unfortunate effects of not having Intel Application Accelerator support for the new ICH, thus the 875P falls behind even the 845PE; updated drivers will fix this issue."
(see: http://www.anandtech.com/chipsets/showdoc.html?i=1811&p=10 to see benchmark with there comments).
Apparently Intel has only released a Intel® Application Accelerator RAID Edition" for the i875/i865 chipsets but has not updated Intel® Application Accelerator for i875/i865 systems that don't use a RAID-configuration and I don't have the impression that they will if I read following: http://support.intel.com/support/chipsets/iaa_raid/raidonly.htm where they say that IAA has become a RAID-only driver if I understand them right!
WHY will Intel not release or update IAA drivers for non-raid Canterwood/Springdale systems, as IAA has always supported most older chipsets irrespective of RAID, and there own website (and also AnandTech's benchmark mentioned above) clearly explains that it gives a serious perfomance gain to any system (raid or no raid) as you can read here: http://support.intel.com/support/chipsets/iaa/reasons.htm
PS: Does that mean if you only gonna use 1 harddisk (so no RAID), you're better off with a Asus P4PE with 845PE chipset which is supported by IAA?!
Anybody can please clarify this?! Thanks in advance!
Mike.
