Why wont my headphones work?

I have a creative live value card in an xp machine. The digital speakers work fine and I went and bought a digital set of headphones. When I plug them into the In port on the card I can use em as a microphone, but when I put them in the OUT port, I get no sound in the headphones. What configuration is everyone else using? Do I have to enable them somewhere? Ive looked all around in the creative soundblaster live audio HQ program. Cant figure it out. Please help. Thanks

There's a setting in the Mixer that you can toggle, something like "Digital output only"
and you'd want to disable that if you want sound out of the Line Out (of course
that means your headphones aren't really digital since it is an analog signal)

I tried turning the digital output only off and that didnt work either. I think i tried just about everything. It just wont seem to work.
