Nintendo shows me flashes of brilliance in this storm of incompetence and bad decisions, that keeps me hoping they'll start being great again.... and then they crush those hopes with more incompetence.
It's hard to hate them, because they're the company that develops my beloved Zelda and Fire Emblem games.... Yet, it's sooooo easy to hate them, because the way they handle the North American Publishing of such games is infuriating.
This is the 2nd Zelda that has been delayed to wait on the next Nintendo console... and Nintendo doesn't provide enough dev resources for Zelda. The last 3D Zelda was roughly 5 years ago, so by the time we see this next one, it'll be pushing 6 years between games. The Zelda fanbase is borderline toxic on strong opinions on individual games, in part because you only get about 2 of them per decade. Meanwhile, Fire Emblem's handling has been saddening. Several games were produced on limited production runs to create artificial scarcity. Same with Fire Emblem Amiibos, where Nintendo seems to have intentionally limited NA supply. Then they basically chopped up the newest 3DS game into pieces, so if you want the complete game you basically have to pay $100. Oh, and it's freaking CENSORED as well. *sigh*
Frankly, I wish Nintendo would leave the videogame industry, and Sony was able to buy Intelligent Systems, Monolith Soft, and maybe drop a truck-full of money on Eiji Aonuma's front porch. Unfortunately, though, Nintendo has huge cash reserves to weather mistakes, and we're stuck with them... So I can only hope that they'll eventually decide it's more profitable to actually treat their customers with a little respect.
