I see no good deed goes unpunished. They are trying to innovate.
Why would they want to build a box so similar to MS or Sony that they are forced into second or third place?
Playing on their strengths (handheld hybrid) makes more sense than trying to compete with Sony head-on.
But anyway, I will be getting a Switch console on day one.

Yep, Nintendo isn't even trying. All they had to do was put the power of an Xbox one (cheap and available tech) in a box with a traditional controller and say "you will get a new metroid adventure game and a Mario game in the spirit of super Mario 64" and it would sell out.
It's powered by a custom version of the Tegra, I presume a slightly bumped up X1 which isn't impressive at all for gaming. I have a shield tv and the games it can play don't look any more visually impressive than what you could do a decade ago. It seems like all the games will still have sub par graphics again for Nintendo.
