Why would plextool tell me my SSD is failing?

I found it odd, as my SSD, Plextor PX-128m3 hasn't shown any signs of problems, but maybe I am wrong. I downloaded plextool to check on my SSD and do a firmware update (I have yet to do the update, so unrelated) and I got this message.

Then I went into the software, and it displays this:

What do you think? Is it based on the hours or something?

My read and write speeds seem up to spec for what it is:

If its truly failing, I can take advantage of the 5 year warranty. I would just rather not have too.

Agree on getting the second opinion with Crystal Disk Info. However you can make some guesses. Look at that power hours count. Apparently it's been on continuously for 2 years? If it's not true, then I'd proceed with the firmware update.

Actually I would backup 1st, then firmware update. Best of luck.

Those numbers look fine... as long as you have backups, I wouldn't worry about it that much.

You know... it's kind of funny. Your power-on hours make sense... mine don't. I have an M5Pro I installed last year when my 840Pro crashed and all it shows is 462 power-on hours.... 1.5hrs per day/yr... which is complete nonsense (verified through CrystalDisk.)

As far as I'm concerned, I'd think about RMA'ing it back to Plextor, or at least contacting them and see what they say. There is no way I could trust that drive with my OS... even though it's probably OK to continue to use... how will you ever know until it fails? Plextor's own toolbox is telling you it's done.

I hope you have a comprehensive way to back your data up on a regular basis if you continue on with it.

I'll give them a call and see what they think. The hours do seem high, but its possible that its correct.

Unless Plextor has some hidden SMART value that isn't show, I would just say it is a software issue.
They can't go by hours used, that wouldn't make sense, though, that could be the bug.

I don't think so... how long has your drive been in service and how many hours a day is your machine on?

For me, my system is on 24/7... that's why my power-on hours don't make sense.... it should be around 7000 hours, not 462.

I would also verify that the FM update is not data destructive... it looks like, from your CD shot, you have the original FM (1.0) and they are up to 1.07 for the M3...
