Why would you buy an Xbox 360?

When it only has a 90-day warranty?

I wouldn't buy a video card that's only warranted for three months, or a computer, or a TV, or an appliance, or really anything, at all. Everything has at least a one year warranty, some three years or more. So what makes this console any different? To me that's kind of like the manufacturer admitting it's unreliable. Hell even the PS3 gives you a year.

Does a warranty one-fourth the length of the general electronics industry standard not alarm you? Especially given high repair costs and the recent surge of bricked consoles by updates, not to mention the original batch of issues.

Yeah... when it comes to video game consoles, the length of the warranty is not the biggest selling point by far.

Although I haven't bought a 360 yet because of the issues with them failing. I'll buy one when they get all that fixed.

So? Sony = 90days for like so many things. It's ridiculous. Seagate's 5-year warranties FTW!

And what about my $4000 Sony XBR2? It's like a.. 1 year? warranty? And my 19" LCD has a 3 year warranty? Come on.

Best Buy offers pretty nice replacement plans if your console bricks out on you. At my store, I work in the Geek Squad precinct, so we test a lot of things that come into Customer Service to get returned/exchanged. A few people have brought in their 360s that have been bricked, and they just swap them out with new ones from the shelves. They even let them keep the hard drives!

If you don't need wifi or HD then it's $250 cheaper than PS3 and for now it's both roughly as good (game quality) and much better (online / multiplayer). Even backwards compatibility is semi-good after the December update added more games.

If you want wifi and HD then the price is as just high as PS3 but it's still more mature for now.

Of course blu-ray is going to win so that $150-200 for HD-DVD is a waste

Also, MS will extend your warranty to 1 year to match the PS3 for $30. (So I guess the price difference is really only $220).

Because it is the best console out and even if I bought a 10 year extended warranty, it'd still be cheaper than a PS3.

Upgrading to one year is only $30?! Well that's not bad at all then.

I'm not denying it's a good console (I wouldn't know I've never used one for more than a few minutes), just merely commenting on the absurdity of accepting a 90-day warranty for such an expensive product.

My friends used to overheat all the time, it finally died a couple days ago.

He returned it to walmart, they exchanged it, no questions asked. He didnt even have a reciept.

Personally im waiting for more good games, and the 65nm version of the box, hopefully with a bigger HD.

Its kinda funny...I really only use my Xbox 360 as a Media Center Extender, my Playstation 3 as a Blu-Ray player and my PC for games

OK, so I use my PC for other things but I do game on it alot.

P.S. I had an Xbox 360 which would freeze up alot of me. Fortunately it happened after a couple of weeks of owning it so I was able to do a simple exchange at Circuit City just in time before the 30 days was up. My PS3 has been working flawlessly....so far

90 day warranties are standard on most electronic devices

and yea if it was made b4 march 06 u get a free lifetime warranty on it

but its like 60$ for a 2 year extension

strange. I just got my xbox 360 in Hong Kong, and the store said that there's a one year warrenty by them.

Anyways, reason for purchase: 3 words: Gears, Of, War.
