Wich X800 XT should I get from hot deals?

In the hot deals forum has the refurb ATI XT PE for $230 but will take several weeks.

Also anands pricing system lists a Connect3D XT for $250 and ZipZoomFly has a Gigabyte XT Platinum and a MSI XT platinum (sold out).

I would rather pay $20 extra to get a card now unless there is a reason the ATI card would be better? Just wondering if one is any better then the other. I don't plan on overclocking, but I would like the cooler and quieter option if possible.

Also is there any advantage of one retail package over another like the included games, or should I get the Gigabyte

I'm pretty sure the ATI refurb XT-PE's are gone.

Yes the ATI's are gone and are on back order so It will take some time to get a card if I ever get one.

Sure enough they actually have the gigabyte in stock!! Wow, if you don't need VIVO, get all over that.

Edit: Ok, 30 clams more and you get the PE with VIVO.

Edit 2 Anyway yeah, to answer your question get whatever's in stock. Who knows if OOS items will ever come back in at the same price? I don't think there's anything wrong with the Gigabyte, I mean at $250 go for it.

Thanks, I don't need the VIVO, at lest not yet but is the Platinum worth it over the XT I can't find any reviews and either way this will be the last AGP card I get to carry until my next system.

If you don't need to VIVO then for heaven's sakes get the XT for 219. That's a crazy good deal.

As I recall the PE has an extra 20 MHz or something on the core. I don't presonally think it's worth an extra 30 But the HDTV out is.

I ordered the Platinum Edition. The clock is 520/560 which is slightly faster then the X850 XT at 520/540 and just behind the 850 PE. And with HDTV and VIVO it looks like the best option.

linkThe plain XT also supports VIVO and HDTV as well.

Looks like you're right.... and I just ordered the PE too. Well, $30 I didn't need to spend, I'm not complaining, BTW they're both out of stock now.

I received Shipping confirmation and will have it on Wednesday ;-)

In the benchmark tests I've seen the PE significantly outperforms the non PE XT. The 800 xt pe outperforms the 850 xt and is a tad behind the 850 xt pe.

any particular brand would be good. i've heard good things about Connect3D, Gigabyte is mixed and MSI is decent. i would buy a ATI card if I had the choice and prices were even, but choose whatever is the cheapest.

I ordered one of those refurb x800XT PE's from the ATI Store on the 8th of August and got a confirmation on the 15th. It has not shipped yet but they did tell me that I have been allocated one. It ended up being $233.16 with shipping.

That definitely makes me feel better, since I ordered a PE. But again, most of that extra performance is due to faster memory, so the main performance benefits would be in older games at high resolutions. Also, I think they started using the 1.667ns memory on all the old X800's, - one guy flashed his X800 Pro to a X800 XT PE and runs fine :Q

At least I won't have to OC any :thumbsup:

I ordered mine about the same time as you... mine still says "packed..." There is a chance it went out yesterday but we'll probably be getting them Friday.....

My MSI X800XT PE arrived from ZZF (Ordered Sunday morning) - retail box is HUGE! I'm glad I spent the extra $20 for the MSI, as the software bundle is amazing!

I will be installing and testing it out this evening in my Shuttle SN95G5 V3 / FX-55 / Audigy2 ZS system. (I also ordered a black Mesh case cover from Shuttle to allow plenty of fresh air to the Video card)

Got the card today. The box is huge. 20 inches long brand new.

One thing though, I have two unknown hardware listings in the device manager and I cannot find the drivers for these. Do I need some spatial drivers for the VIVO to work or is there some other special hardware on the card?

Got mine yesterday too.

The VIVO isn't really making any sense to me either. I was hoping to plug my PS2 into the card and play it on my PC. I had kind of assumed that the VIVO would be similar to the AIW products, where it accepts all 3 composite inputs and passes the audio to your sound card. Wrong, there's just a little yellow composite-video input, and nothing else. I'm afraid this means I'll have to purchase a separate set of speakers just for my PS2. Yargh.

That would be all fine and dandy, but I can't even find a way to view / capture the video from the inputs! I've installed ATI media center or whatever, but TV Player won't start up evidently without an AIW card.

elkinm, regarding your unknown devices, I don't have any extra (beyond what I had before I installed the video card ).

Opened a ticket with ATI, we'll see....
