Wierd Screen problem

That is where it all started... I think the screen may have flashed but I'm not positive, everything just goes goofy, this is the 3rd time.

I go to my desktop to find a mix of normal graphics and extremely pixelated graphics.

WHAT IS WRONG??

Another related issue is during Warcraft 3, the game freeze for about 5 seconds, (it shows me as lagging to other people). Then, the screen goes black except fora bunch of horizontal multi colored lines. I have to alt tab to my desktop, then back into the game, then it is fine. When this happens the problem does not persist with other programs.

Anybody have any ideas?

what vid card do you have, ive seen this be4, your vid card is artifacting hard core, which is NOT a good sign

u have 3 possiblities, 1) your card has died and you need a new one, or 2) you card is over heating a LOT and need to find some way to cool it off, or 3) loose agp/pcie connector, reseat it and possibly clean the contacts using a CLEAN pencil erasure.

then 2nd possibility was my case, i have also seen the 3rd on older cards like a 3d voodoo in which i had to take fine sandpaper to the gold fingers (and it worked perfectly ever since)

Would it just come out of nowhere? I do haev it overclocked but never had this problem before...


Asus 9600XT 500 core / 300 mem @ 569 core / 326 mem

My temps are not exceeding 50c under load for either my gpu or proc.

yea it would come out of nowhere... especially under stressful conditions....

im getting the feeling its the memory of your card, not the GPU, ive seen that artifacting pattern before and that was when i was fooling around with different ram chips in older cards...

try reseating and cleaning the contacts, and dont OC it anymore to test it and crap, if it still artifacts then u have sucessfully killed your card by OCing, iirc they do put warnings on them for not to OC... (i think)

hopefulyl not and its just a heat problem, but it doesnt look too good.

This problem has NEVER happened on Half life 2 etc and I would think that this is MUCH more likely to happen on a more demanding game. It also it coupled with another problem that is odd, involving the same game...

its very eratic, since i cant explain any further im not even going to attempt it,

not killed but it will never be the same again, (if its damaged).... but if its heat related, (like one of my other cards), jsut make sure u get a lot of cooling on that sucker and dont overclock.

I just got the same problem. I came back from a 2 month vacation to find my computer doing this (it wasn't used while I was away). like so. On some colors (such as orange) there's more of a green tint. My monitor is a 4-year-old LG and my videocard is a Radeon 9800 pro. I'm clueless as to what's causing it.
