First of all I would like to thank you all for coming back and reposting trying to help me out. I really appreciate it and I am trying to answer these questions the best i can without driving all of us crazy.
<< Was the Windows 98 boot diskette "write protected"? Get a copy of a 98SE boot diskette from a known clean computer, use fdisk, then format c, then install Windows again. - kmike75 >>
First thing I tried. I even used the 98se bootable cdrom so i know that the hd is clean. so that isn't the case.
<< Try formatting from the utility disk thats provided from your hard drive manufacturer. Just make sure your floppy is locked, and powerdown after its done. There are some pretty nasty viruses that write themselves into the mbr and move the mbr for the hard disk. If you have someone that can make an emergency rescue CD with all the latest virus updates, that would be ideal. - Warcon >>
I got on the phone with tech support and they said its either in the Mbr or cmos but couldn't do much about it. Does Fdisk remove this or do i have to do something else to do a format or fdisk of the mbr. And if you guys no how to reset set it how do i reset the cmos.
I don't know much about viruses so the fact that i am not explaining myself well isn't too surprising. Is there a FAQ or what you need to know about viruses. I can't use emergency disks or anything like that because computer decides to do a "forever boot" where I can go to work come back and nothing is loaded except for a black screen with blinking _ in the courner.
I am at school now but i'll be on later with the exact error message that i get from installing anything. I don't know if that will help but i will try.
