No offense, and maybe I sound like an ass, but that would seriously make me consider a divorce. I cannot believe that anyone could be so irresponsible and stupid with their money.

GB & Perknose I hear what you're saying, believe me...
Honestly what it comes down to is this:
1.) Bail another woman/spouse out of debit
2.) Help my daughter through college
By deciding to choose option #2, option # 1 is off the table, and if that means staying single, then so be it. My obligation is first & formost to my daughter, not to some woman who can't make the payments on her Lexus.

All this talk about divorce is BS. Look, she obviously made a mistake and perhaps it wasn't intentional. For all you guys know she could be perfect in all other ways except finances. OP perhaps she needs some education on how to manage the checkbook and how to check the balance online which shows exactly how much you have in the back (minus outstanding checks). Talk to the bank and explain what happened and that she didn't know how to check the balance; perhaps they will cut you some slack. You and your wife can get through this. Good Luck and hang in there.

Get her to start working as well. At least part-time (16 hrs/wk at Starbucks or something). She can spend whatever she earns, but no checkbook.

This is exactly what I was thinking reading this thread. Anyone going into a marriage expecting they won't run into issues of this magnitude is living in a dream world. She screwed up, they talked about it, the marriage hopefully grows as a result.

The 29 dollars everytime is the fee the bank charges for each overdraft/nonsufficient funds on a check - regardless of how much the check was for
