Wife may be going to Japan for a year for a few store openings

As much as I bash LDR's this is a classic case of one that's the way they should work. Long term relationship with a short-term separation.

The store she works for is expanding all over the world, in a time where many retailers are shrinking...her's is profiting big time. She'd be covering most of Japan to teach the store associates the 'right way' to do things.

I am looking at the pros and cons...pros are no compromising for a year. cons are mostly house duties.

Maybe I will hang out with some of my old friends I been getting back in touch with.

How'd you guys look at something like this?

37 and 47. We own a home and I am not anywhere near fluent in japanese so relocation isn't an option for both of us.

How often will you see each other?

My fiance and I stayed together during college, but we saw each other a few weekends a month.

That long, I would put 2:1 odds that one of you cheats (unless it's an open relationship, in which case it doesn't matter!)

I'm willing to bet you can get by just fine with a bit of Japanese and English. Besides, you will probably be fluent by the time you leave.

I would also put 10:1 odds that it won't be the wife, seeing as Japanese men are too tired from working 100-hour weeks to feel any sexual urges for women over the age of 13.
