wifi help

I am trying to use my HP laptop (with integrated 54g) with a linksys 54g wireless router. The wired connections work fine. My laptop sees the wireless network but cannot get a valid IP from the router. I have called Linksys tech support and they told me to call HP. After an hour on the phone the people at HP told me to restore my laptop (which is less than a month old). I didnt think that was the problem but gave them the benefit of the doubt and did it anyway. And like I thought it didnt help. I am going to exchange the router (in hopes that somethings wrong with it). I was wondering if anyone has any idea about this.

Just to cover the bases, did you make sure that DHCP is enabled in both the laptop and the router?

also just to check, make sure the router isn't filtering MAC addresses or anything. although im sure you already checked, look for the latest drivers and firmware. good luck

The laptop and the router both work with a wired connection. There are 3 other computers wire connected to the router and it works fine. I dont know why that would be the case with a wireless connection. The HP tech support guy had me check the DHCP service on my laptop and I rolled my eyes because if it wasnt started then how would it get an IP with a wired connection?
