WiFi: Signal there and good, packets transferring, but can't get on Internet

I have an SMC 802.11b WAP (128bit WEP enabled) and a Netgear PCI wireless card on a WinXP Pro box. I successfully installed the WiFi NIC and am picking up a good signal, got the WEP encoded properly and everything looks gravy. But I still can't bring up webpages. What gives? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: I can't access the WAP's admin page from the wireless PC across the house.

You probaly do not have a connection.

does your wireless nic pick up an ip from the AP? do an ipconfig and also ping the server to make sure connection indeed works(but then again you said you are getting good signals, but just to be on the safe side).

one thing I find it odd is you mentioned you put up encryption, yet you can not bring up the AP admin page I am wondering how you placed encryption in the AP in the first place(unless through wired connection). If you haven't, take out the encryption, set it up in the AP then turn it back on in your NIC
