WiFi Tethering with GNex 4.2.2?

I've got a Samsung Galaxy Nexus running stock Android 4.2.2 on T-Mobile.

I can turn on my Portable Wi-Fi hotspot. I can also configure it with a Network SSID, WPA2 PSK security with Password.

What I cannot do is connect to my phone via Wi-Fi with my laptop. I keep getting a "Network Security Key" mismatch error. I have tried with multiple passwords.

How is Wi-Fi tethering working for those in a similar situation as mine?

Strange. My situation is pretty much the same as yours and I have not had any problems with tethering.:hmm:
GNex on AT&T. Have tethered my laptop and wife's ipod touch. I think last I used tethering was 4.2.1 thought, but don't think that have changed it? I'll see if I can test it.

Works on mine (rooted with custom rom) and my wife's (stock). We are using straight talk on AT&T's network. No proxy info input in the APN.

I connect my nexus 7 and kindle to them just fine.

Did you try a simple key to make sure (such as 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8) you entered everything correctly?

I have a 4.2.2 gnex on tmobile, and tethering works fine for the most part.

Strange. It seems to only work with WPA PSK set as the security option. It doesn't work if I try Open or WPA2 PSK.

Try deleting your hotspot's wireless network profile in Win 7, then try connecting again with WPA2/PSK.

I have to do that all the time when I use my VZW GNex.

My iPad connects to the phone just fine with WPA2.

I guess the problem is somehow Win7U on my laptop...

Hmmm... So your Win7 (assuming it's the Sony listed in your siggy) doesn't remember its previous wireless network connections? And you can't make it forget? That's what I mean by the profile...

What happens if you change your phone hotspot's SID name and password? Hopefully, Win 7 will start a fresh connection with the new SID.
