I have seen them in stock at FYE stores. They are normally just retail priced. 249 I think. They get them in stock every Tuesday.

if it's been posted on amazon as a hot deal you should already know it's 249 with free shipping and no tax in most states.

and FYI i don't give a shit. that's how i post it. if you're lucky great if you're not then better luck next week.

I don't understand the Wii thing. Most of the people I know that have one rarely play it (preferring rather X360, PS3, PC, etc) - yet they keep flying off the shelves for some inexplicable reason. Do people just want one to say they have one? I mean I go to Gamestop and look at the wall of Wii games and laugh. I can't believe some of the crap that gets put out. And Wii sports gets old after an hour or so.

I think it is more of a kids thing. There are certainly more child appropriate games for any Nintendo system than any other. For a grown up gamer it is just a unique experience that will wear off in a few games.

theres a sh1ton of crap out there on wii, no doubt. Theres crap on the other consoles as well, but i guess wii does have a higher percentage of losers.

mario, metroid, no more heroes.. theres still a good selection of alisters on the wii.

rockband took over as the party toy for me though, its more fun than the wii party games for sure.

That's the way it is at my house. My boys bought a 360 with their own money but had us buy them a Wii for xmas for Zelda and a couple of Mario games. The Wii sits there in the corner and COD is on the xbox all day long.

We got ours about three weeks ago and it hasn't gone more than two days without being played by at least one of us in the house. One of the great things about the Wii is that it CAN be played for an hour or so at a time and fun can still be had. My daughter is about to turn 7 and I don't want her playing for long periods of time. There are a lot of games designed for just that purpose. Longer play times generally require more people and there are obviously games for that very purpose...i.e. party games. It's perfectly designed for most families, both old and young.

The thing I can't understand is WHY there is such a shortage of these things after not 1, but 2 holiday seasons! You were able to buy PS3s and 360s easily and regularly not too long after the first holiday season they were released, if not durring. Why the hell can't they make enough of these things?

It costs less than an iPod, HAS MOTION SENSING, is significantly smaller, and is more socially geared (better local networking), and has widgets (channels) you can install for things besides gaming - like news, weather, etc.... xbox and PS3 don't have that. They cost more and are strictly gaming systems. The fact that the Wii costs less, provides a more active role with motion sensing, and is more than just a gaming system makes it cross boundaries to a lot of people that normally wouldn't be interested in gaming.

I think they seriously under-estimated the demand for the wii and somehow f'd up the design of their supply chain so there is virtually no flexibility. My other conspiracy theory is that they are intentionally keeping the supply lower than the demand to keep the hype up. It's a seriously fun system and I'm waiting to buy one a full retail, but if it takes much longer, I'm going to wait for the next generation system.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I think they are great gaming systems and fun as all get out. I was more wondering why they weren't able to keep up with the demand. By now the production should be (and should have been for quite some time) at full capacity. Why do they just seem to be trickling out into the stores. I don't know if I fully agree with the 'conspiracy theory' of them purposly keeping the numbers low to maintain hype. It seems they can sell about as many as they make, so keeping numbers low would limit their bottom line, i would think.

hahaha the hype.... and why are they out of stock?

Nintendo didn't F' up it's called Marketing! They are enjoying selling every Wii they can make for ASKING price.... It's Called HYPE! And if no one paid $$$ over asking price then I am sure everyone would have one that wanted one. If I was Nintendo I would do the SAME thing. Make a few billion but only around Holiday time... Just to keep the HYPE going... Not sure how long this demand will last. Maybe they can keep it going for a few more years. I guess I should have bought stock in Nintendo, after a few years they should come out with Wii2 and then they can repeat the model. I don't know how many Wii's have been sold but sheesh, even if it was over a million in the USA alone, Thats 250Million!

Talk about a brilliant marking scheme! Now that toshiba is giving up the ghost on HD DVD I wonder what's gonna happen to the XBOX?

That was a pretty pointless comment, but anyway... According to past articles, they're actually making 1.8 million per month.
