Wii remote nightmare

I got my parents a Wii, and they enjoy playing pac man and tennis, and some other old console games. The problem is it is too difficult to add a second player.

In Pac-man, for example, they know how to load up with the main controller. But in order to add a second player, I now have to try to teach them how to press the "home" button, reconnect remotes, hold 1+2, then exit all the way back. For anyone who has worked with old folks and electronics, this is an extremely difficult task.

Any suggestions on an easier way? I must be missing something.

Thanks.

I've never heard of having to do that... the way it always worked for me is you had to press the little red button on the inside of the battery cover, and then you'd be able to connect the controller to the Wii. And I only ever had to do that the first time. After that, simply pressing any button on the remote while the Wii was on would automatically turn the controller on and assign it a connection slot.

Yeah, it sounds like your remotes aren't "paired" with your Wii system. Hold down the red button on the inside of the battery cover as Astro suggested to get the remotes paired and you shouldn't have to hold Home and 1+2 in the future.

I hadn't done the "red button" thing to begin with, so that's my fault. I just tried it, it blinked blue, but then the second controller would still not automatically recognize after pressing a button, or the power button.

Is there an additional step? Just hold the red button in the battery pack?

theres an additional red button inside the front cover of the console itself (where the SD card goes i believe)

I think you just have to press them both at the same time.

You have to sync every new controller you add to the Wii for proper operation. And once you sync it, you can forget it. Try to real the manual that comes w/ the Wii, it's there for a reason.

Yep, just read the manual.

Once you pair them there's nothing to do other than power on whatever wiimote you want.

I've always had problems with the Wii's remote, as well as the Wii's internet.

Kinda pisses me off, especially since I have none of these problems with any other system.
