The older form of Link is usually more like 16-17.

And for a young man, this character would have very feminine features. Which, would actually fit the trend...

From Ocarina of Time, to Twilight Princess, to Skyward Sword, Link has become more effeminate each time. Starting off with only a touch of feminine features in Ocarina of Time, to being more girly in Twilight Princess, to Skyward Sword, where he was REALLY effeminate. For this Link to push it a little more, wouldn't surprise me at all.

I'm just hoping that's not the case. There have been a few examples in the past where Nintendo had a female character disguised as a boy, and actually, Zelda was one of them. In Ocarina of Time she was disguised as Sheik for a large portion of the game.

Zelda is a bow user, who typically doesn't carry other weapons. This character didn't have any other weapons, besides the bow. She has light blue eyes, while Link's are usually dark blue. This character had light blue eyes. She usually has light brown or blonde hair. This character has light brown hair, actually a bit lighter than Zelda's was in Twilight Princess. She often has been shown with two long bangs framing her face, like this character's hair.

She's a good fit for the character.

Meanwhile, Link is missing all iconic features. No left handed sword. No shield. No white maned horse.. All that's really there is, uh, you could say that Link is known for having some very serious bangs.

So, I'm left with a short list of reasons why I think it might be Zelda... vs bangs.

I dunno. I hope it's Zelda.... or maybe a female version of Link. I think it would be cool... if that's supposed to be a male Link, then, uh... *sigh* I guess I won't be surprised seeing how a lot of other Japanese characters are, but I have to admit that I'll be pretty disappointed.

I'd love to see Zelda out on horseback fighting monsters with her bow, instead of just waiting to be rescued!

Maybe it'll actually just be an option that you choose at the beginning? I don't know if there's a bunch of lore that I've missed not playing a lot of the newer games, but Link always seemed like more of a hero of happenstance. As long as Zelda doesn't go the way of Princess Peach and get "kidnapped" (wink wink) every time, there's no reason why she couldn't go out to save the day from Ganon or whoever is causing a ruckus in Hyrule this time.

Heh....Shadow of the Colossus would have been a good Zelda game..which..really if you think about it, it is in many ways. Hmm...that seems like a good combination.

I think the new Zelda teaser looks amazing. If the game comes out looking like that, I will be impressed. It looks a lot better aesthetically than most games. The same goes for yarn yoshi.

I do think that person in the trailer could be Zelda. The blue eyes. The feminine appearance. The prominent bow usage...

As far as I remember there is more than one link. Throughout time and space a hero is chosen by the gods and at the appropriate time it is made known to him and he is pushed down the path of the hero of time.

Something like that but nothing says the hero was a boy every time.

I'm not a big fan of "old" cel shading but I think it's usage has improved drastically over the years. Like when someone mentioned the zelda game was my first reaction was "...was it?" - to me cel shading brings to mind "Cel Damage", the ugly thick black lines, the complete lack of texture detail, ugly pastel colors. But I thought the footage looked tremendous.

Also while watching it I was wondering if the 'character' on the horse was intended to be male or female.

Would be pretty cool if the game turned out that you were Zelda trying to save Link, the prince stuck in the castle. In every LoZ game, you get the sense that Zelda is badass but never get to see her in action. With the notable exception of Ocarina of Time.

Actually this would be cool as well. Nintendo has well-established franchises, and is no stranger to breaking gaming conventions (Samus is a Girl!) so I think they should be more daring in how they treat their characters and the stereotypes surrounding those characters.

Twilight Princess kind of had an overworld though. I remember repairing the bridge on the map to progress around it. Been a while though, but I could have sworn it was pretty close to Ocarina of Time.
