Serious fail. The bombs that went off in Boston were relatively easy to build. I'd bet Loughner or Cho could've built them with instruction. And none of the currently gun control measures (as has been pointed out) would've stopped the recent mass shootings. You want to do something to radically stop gun deaths? Clean up the killing field that is Chicago and then apply it to other cities.

I do support NYC's crime reduction programs, which greatly curtail gun rights and S&F in bad parts of town.

Do you?

I'll take one tank to your 1000 guns

I swear it's always people who've never even been in a tank that say stuff like this. What about fuel? Ammunition? Recovery in the event you're mired? A tank (or a battalion of tanks) isn't an army unto itself. They can't operate more than a couple days without a steady, secure supply train.

If you look at the insurgencies in like Iraq, they almost never engaged US troops on the battlefield using automatic weapons. They would plant bombs and snipe.

So like, bolt-action hunting rifles probably would be more than good enough in the event of a "take back our government" scenario.

So if I told you that you were going to engage in combat against a squad of US Army infantrymen next Tuesday, and failure to survive on your part would condemn your family to death, and I then opened up my gun safe to allow you to arm yourself, you would choose a Remington 700 over an AR-15? Because a bolt action rifle "probably would be more than good enough," in a battle for everything that's important to you?

Do you only put enough gas in your car to reach your destination? Do you have any sort of planning skills whatsoever? Do you think the bare minimum is the gold standard in life?

You do realize this is like David Koresh territory you're going to here, right?

But anyways, the smart thing is to not take on a squad of infantrymen head-on. You're going to lose with a remington 700 or a AR15.

I think it's pretty offensive to compare me to David Koresh. He was a fraud, I'm the real final prophet. :awe:

You seem to have missed my point of, "If you're going to find yourself in a dire situation, you should be as well prepared as you can be." So I assume you're just some sort of idiot. I've formated my message in a way that you may find easier to absorb, hyena.

What? Do you see high end stereo aficionados getting so angry when people make fun of them? Why are you guys so sensitive about your inanimate objects?

My focus is mainly on these mass shootings. For violent crime, I believe the answer is more surveilance + smart police tactics like clean halls and S&F.

We're so sensitive because people like you keep trying to take them away from us for bullshit reasons when we've done nothing wrong; and regardless of how stupid you may think it is, we view ownership of these "inanimate objects" as a fundamental right. We put it right up there with free speech.

You can't control the psychopaths, so you take out your frustration on the law-abiding citizens that you can control, instead of working with them to solve the problem. Repeatably. There's a reason a ton of gun owners went out and bought an AR/AK within minutes of hearing about Sandy Hook. They knew what was coming.

All in all, we can thank gun control advocates and their lack of sense for our continuing gun freedoms. The bullshit of the Clinton AWB alienated a lot of more moderate gun owners, with the result that we've now largely galvanized behind an ever-more-powerful NRA. If the gun control advocates had proposed incremental measures that made sense and didn't piss off a large and highly motivated voting block, they might have been further along by now.

Meanwhile, it looks like the bill that got shot down in the senate may be re-introduced. Obama doesn't like to lose.

Unless you go the rout to confiscate weapons and ammo, I doubt there will be much of a difference.

That will be interesting. I wonder what exactly they think a 2nd vote will accomplish, unless of course they've changed the bill.
