Will 970 prices drop?

As delonm said the 970 happened which makes me wonder what AMD will do about this? I have to imagine they're pretty mad about recent 970 spec changes.

ROFL, they can't and won't do anything about it. They can't sue nVidia, and 290/290x are already priced way below 970. What are they going to do? Raise prices? I really hope recent (as in the past 3 years) nVidia behavior and sales tactics will make people consider AMD videocards more seriously.

Haha, yeah AMD is not Samsung so suing is not happening. Thinking more along press releases and ad campaigns. Maybe a light hearted prank like going down the street to Nvidia's HQ and deflating one of Jen-Hsun Huang's tires to half pressure.

I guess -- I guess that AMD could be disgruntled because NVidia hyped their card as "4GB" for different reasons consumers would be upset about the same hype. That is, "false advertising" damaged their own sales, until somebody made a discovery about the memory segmentation.

And I also guess -- guess, mind you -- that it won't play out that way in court. NVidia will argue that there is, indeed, "4GB of VRAM." If the potential consumer wanted to determine "how it gets used," they might have done further investigation.

So it comes down to whether or not NVidia was obliged to add a footnote to the spec showing "4 GB," whether the information was available through more difficulty in PDFs and spec pages, or whether Performance/$-Price ratio is all that really matters.

While i can respect "stoic" nature... so are you saying that you're not going to play any new games which may come, because in those games a card with 3.5 gig may not perform as good as a 4gb card

The GTX 970 is a terribly slow card now, it's maybe worth like $100. PM me if you want to sell it for that price. I know I shouldn't be so reckless with my money by spending it on worthless junk, but don't worry about me, just sell your 970s to me for $100.
