Will a i5-4670 bottleneck a R9 270x?

Assuming non k, at an undisclosed resolution without giving games played - yes.

What Balla is saying here is that title doesn't say it all. The 4670 won't bottleneck it in 99.9% of realistic scenarios though. The 270X isn't exactly high-end.

it´s actually a real good match
if anything, the cpu could be considered higher end than the card
i have the r9 270x running with a fx 8350 which is the best homemade amd solution to team it up with (except centurion, but those are essentially overclocked golden sample fx 8350) and that´s a good match
the i5 will beat it in most scenarios

if you´re thinking new build and you don´t have anything yet, i can totally recommend the card up to 1080p
anything higher than that you might want to go with gtx 770 or r9 280x
the i5 4670 would still be a good choice with any of those cards

Assuming 1080p in a typical sampling of today's games, yes. The 270X will be too slow to allow the 4670 to reach full potential.

Short answer:

Single player: the 270x will be the bottleneck
Multiplayer: 4670(k?) will be the bottleneck unless you OC it.

What games do you think are going to bottleneck a stock i5 4670 in mp?

Diablo 3 and BF4 come to mind from personal experience, but also pretty much any other game where there is a lot of cluster action.

I haven't played enough BF4 to relate, but its hard to imagine Diablo 3 bottle necking any modern hardware.

you guys like throwing around the word "bottleneck" like nothing, uh?
bottleneck is when you upgrade a component, and there is NO change because a second component is completely bottlenecking its performance.

The term originated around the PII era, when the 33Mhz FSB got completely saturated.
I have X video card: if i buy a CPU *better* than the 4670, will i get more frames? And the answer is yes.
I have X CPU. If i get a better video card, will i get the same framerate? The answer is no.

Just call it limiting, because ALL components in a pc are *partially* limited by each other; ram speed + latyency, cpu frequency, cache, hard disk read speed, gpu core clock, they all affect the final performance.

Now back to the OP:

WILL MY 4670 BE REALLY BAD FOR A 270x ???

No, its fine. go play.

I highly highly doubt that a 4670 will bottleneck any gpu right now even not overclocked. Only scenerio that might hurt you is runing low resolutions which why the hell would you care if it's between 300fps or 260 fps? And maybe some multiplayer games might take a small hit. Small enough for you not to notice unless you're staring at a fps meter on your screen. LOL

But on the other hand, if you're buying a new processor, why not get the k version and overclock it in the first place?

I think some people here need to revisit the definition of bottleneck!!!

bottlenecks are application specific, hard to make generalizations, but a lot of ppl are buying 4670k's with r9 290's. So at least relative to them, you are much less likely to run into a cpu bottleneck.

No. I mean you got to understand that these things are not pronounced at all.

When we are talking about bottleneck we can talk about a Phenom II x4 940 or Q8400 bottlenecking a 270x or if its other way around a GTX560 bottlenecking a 4770k.

Or maybe you only have 2GB ram and GTX780 you know, the ram will bottleneck your whole system.

Any hardware that is within 2 generations and sort of mid or above won't bottleneck other good hardware.

The correct answer is, No.

Not even close is another way to describe it.

Or, the i5-4670 is plenty fast a CPU for modern gaming when paired with the 270x.

Cliffs: Have fun gaming, that's a great setup.

i think most stuttering in diablo 3 is related to hdd texture reload (if you have otherwise reasonably powerful hardware)
ssd works wonders on diablo 3,
i5 4670 definitely good enough for almost anything
other than that, thread starter is asking upper mid range hardware
he won´t be expecting highest possible performance one can buy from this
value for budget wise it´s a very favourable pair
