Will a Prolimatech Megahalems fit an i7 2600k?

I have a rev. b megahalems that fits my 2600k just fine. I don't know if the very original one would fit but worst case you'd have to buy a new mounting bracket.

Does your bracket have 3 indentations in it? It should be the middle one.

I'm not sure what type of indentations you're referring to? The bracket that goes over the top of the base of the heatsink has two dowel like things that seat into the heat sink base.

I finally found the email receipt from 2009 when I ordered it. It says it's a Prolimatech Megahalems Rev. B Heatpipe CPU Cooler for Intel LGA775, LGA1156, LGA1366....

It needs to be for LGA 1155, im not sure if 1156 works.

You're good to go OP. Like I said I'm using it on my 2600k.

1155 uses same mounting config as 1156.

Easily... My daily overclock for my 2600K with Megahalems push-pull fan config is 4.5 ghz at around 1.3 V and temps are max 60 degrees when stress testing... gaming usually much less.

I can actually stresstest at 4.7-4.8 and keep temps in low 70´s but at much a higher voltage (sorry can´t remember exactly and I´m at work right now).

Just make sure you get a pair of decent fans... virtually any 2600K should be able to reach 4.5 with that setup.

I'm sure you may have spent money differently to get similar/better performance with that board to what I did with the P8Z68. I'm still titillated by the ISRT feature on the Z68, and I hear the new boards have advanced with that feature.

You quoted a 4.5 Ghz overclock and 1.30V. Was 1.30 the loaded voltage, or just the "high" voltage without load and before the turbo ramps down?

I'm guessing that 4.7 would take you to 1.40V for the unloaded peak. But the temperatures would be manageable. But if you're cautious, so am I.
